Game music publisher Materia Music has acquired Australian game record label Bass Battle Records.
Founded in 2017 by Fabian Malabello, Bass Battle Records supports game composers and artists whose work has appeared in games such as Star Wars, Metal Gear Solid, Honor of Kings, Pac-Man, and Apex Legends. Games with soundtracks entirely for them include Bright Paw, Café Finish, and more.
On the other hand, Seattle-based Materia Music is responsible for releasing the independent soundtracks of many games, including Hollow Knight, Under the Legends, and more. Releases include physical CDs and vinyl records.
The two companies have been in talks about the acquisition since 2019. With this acquisition, Materia will expand Boss Battle's physical media and merchandise catalog over the next year.
