The international carbon market trades between US$40 and US$80 per tonne of CO2, while the mainland carbon market has so far traded between RMB50 and RMB60 per tonne of CO2.
The mainland's carbon price is still at a relatively low level, but the increase is only a little smaller, which does not mean that it is not rising.
The national carbon emission trading market was officially launched and started trading at 9:30 a.m. on July 16, 2021 at the Shanghai Environment and Energy Exchange, and the carbon allowance registration system was set up in Wuhan, Hubei Province, with an opening price of 48 yuan per ton on the first day.
From July 16, 2021 to December 31, 2021, the total trading volume of carbon emission allowances (CEAs) in the national carbon market was about 17.878 million tons, with a total turnover of about 7.66 billion yuan.

During this period, the highest transaction price was 61.60 yuan per ton, the lowest transaction price was 50.54 yuan per ton, and the closing price on the last trading day was 55 yuan per ton, up 1.44% year-on-year.
Since the official launch of the national carbon market, as of the end of last year, it has exceeded the 10 billion mark, and more than 2,000 power generation companies are also taking action to achieve "double carbon".
