Yang Xueliang, vice president of Geely Automobile Group, followed suit: "I also disagree, I also think that the evaluation process is unscientific, not rigorous, and the conclusions are not convincing, which not only misleads consumers, but also hurts the credibility of Chedi itself." CLTC has made complaints, and third-party evaluations have a high voice

The car companies were angry and understood the toughness of the car emperor, which made the topics related to the test of new energy vehicles rush to the hot search for a while.

Starting from 2021, this is the third year of the winter test of Chedi new energy vehicles. Zhang Kangkang, a senior analyst at Qingyan Huake New Energy Research Institute, believes that with the rapid rise of new energy vehicles, it is quite forward-looking to understand Chedi's investment in winter testing.

The logic behind it is that the original test condition of the new energy vehicle factory mileage is NEDC, which was introduced by the mainland from Europe, because the European road conditions are very different from the Chinese road conditions, and its gentle and uniform speed test conditions do not conform to the actual use of Chinese cars, so consumers often feel that NEDC is "unreal".

From October 1, 2021, most new NEVs have replaced the original NEDC with the CLTC combined driving range. The reason is that the average speed of the CLTC test is low, and the new energy vehicle is precisely the shortcoming of the high-speed range; the CLTC only examines the normal temperature working conditions, and the high and low temperature standards have not been implemented for the time being, and the new energy vehicles are the most afraid of high and low temperatures.

New energy vehicles require high-quality testing standards

In this way, the third-party evaluation can be called a merit, but why is it collectively angry by car companies? Zhang Kangkang believes that the third-party evaluation conducted by media platforms naturally has potential doubts.

First, impartiality. With the escalation of the "Understanding Chedi Winter Test Incident", some netizens exposed the price list of the suspected "Understanding Chedi Winter Testing Investment Promotion Plan", with prices ranging from 6 million to 16 million yuan. A senior executive of Kia China also posted on Moments a few days ago that a certain model of Kia wanted to participate in the winter evaluation but was "refused" by the car emperor. For a time, the fairness of the winter assessment of Chedi was questioned by many parties.

Zhang Kangkang believes that media testing is naturally inferior in terms of impartiality. "Compared with the general automotive media, the automotive platform does not rely on the launch of a certain car company to survive, so the fairness will be better. He said that the car emperor who understands the whirlpool of public opinion is actually divided into the original department and the commercial department. As far as Zhang Kangkang knows, the original department is not responsible for commercial revenue, so as to ensure fairness as much as possible, "but netizens do not distinguish between the original department and the commercial department, so they will be more motivated to doubt its fairness."

Second, consistency. Is the test process rigorous? Will the results of each test be different? Taking this test as an example, if each car is silent and closes the door, is the opening and closing time of each car the same? When driving, is the speed curve as consistent as possible? Zhang Kangkang believes that the consistency of the media platform test cannot be as strict as the national standard test, but it is still necessary to provide key data to ensure the basic consistency.

For example, plug-in hybrid/range extender vehicles use pure electric mode in extremely cold areas and deliberately do not start the engine, which may not necessarily be in line with the real car use scenario.

Zhang Kangkang believes that there is still room for improvement in the winter test of Chedi, such as the controversial endurance test test, which can fully disclose the test method in advance and collect opinions, and record key data such as the time of opening and closing the door during implementation, so as to avoid controversy as much as possible.

Scientific and reasonable evaluation standards need to be jointly built

The turmoil caused by the winter testing incident is still continuing, which reflects the increasing demand of consumers for the real performance of new energy vehicles, so the construction of high-quality testing standards for new energy has almost become an industry consensus.

Zhang Kangkang believes that scientific and reasonable standards should be formulated and implemented by relevant state departments. The reason is that the CLTC working condition is the baton of the technology development of car companies, but because the CLTC working condition is far away from the real car scene, this problem is particularly prominent in new energy vehicles.

"The original intention of understanding the winter test and summer test of Chedi is to make up for the incomplete national standard CLTC test, which is beneficial to consumers. Zhang Kangkang said. In the absence of fair and impartial third-party testing, it is the consumer who ultimately suffers. Therefore, what consumers need to do is to urge the car emperor to improve the test. At the same time, there is a need to push for more efficient testing at the national level.

Zhang Hong, secretary-general of the new energy vehicle branch of the China Automobile Dealers Association, believes that the evaluation of new energy vehicles can be carried out by national professional and technical institutions, industry associations and engineering societies, as well as third-party enterprises or institutions, but the implementation process should have independent experts and scholars from all parties and professional media to participate, and the list of expert committees will be announced after the evaluation. The results must be fair and objective, and stand up to questions and tests.

Fan Yongjun believes that the new energy vehicle industry is now full of exaggeration, and all kinds of "first", "leading" and "most" propaganda have exaggerated elements, and more third-party evaluations are needed to test their authenticity. The reason for this is that corruption can easily breed if third-party evaluations are dominant, and if there are multiple evaluation agencies competing with each other in the industry, it can improve the objectivity of the evaluation.
