Previously, more than 62,000 South Korean iPhone users filed a lawsuit against Apple, accusing Apple of deliberately reducing the performance of older phones after software updates, forcing users to buy new phones, and demanding that Apple pay 200,000 won (currently about 1,088 yuan) to each person.
The court found that Apple should compensate consumers for the psychological damage they suffered as a result of "the violation of their right to choose."
"Even though the software update is meant to prevent the device from shutting down, it does limit performance such as the CPU," the court said. Apple has a duty to provide an adequate explanation to allow the user to decide whether or not to install the update, but it is in breach of that obligation. ”
Apple made the old iPhone slow down and stuck through system updates, forcing users to change to new models, and even said that it was to extend the battery life and let users use it longer, which was debunked by users.
It is reported that Apple initially denied deliberately limiting iPhone performance. But the company later said it was doing it to extend battery life, saying it wasn't doing it to force users to buy a new device.
