According to the official website of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, NIO appears in the credit information management system of vehicle manufacturers, which indicates that NIO has obtained independent production qualifications.

Before that, many senior executives, including Shen Fei, senior vice president of Weilai Energy, said on Weibo that they want to witness history today and Weibo is temporarily suspended, which seems to be more solid.
So, why are NIO and JAC so happy to break up? There are two reasons:
First of all, it can save a lot of OEM costs. As we all know, due to the difficulty of obtaining automobile production qualifications, new car-making forces like "Wei Xiaoli" adopt the OEM model for the production of new energy vehicles in the early stage, and they also need to pay OEM fees.
Weilai's financial report shows that from 2018 to 2022, it paid about 223 million, 441 million, 532 million, 715 million and 1.127 billion yuan to JAC Motors, respectively, which is also a very large expenditure.
If NIO can obtain independent production qualifications as a result, it will be a major benefit to the brand and conducive to the company's long-term operation and efficiency improvement.
Secondly, it is more in line with its positioning as a high-end luxury electric vehicle. In the past, many users who had just finished mentioning a new NIO car had to complete a unique ritual that only NIO owners could understand each other after lifting the new car-deducting the tail mark of "JAC". And this is precisely because the owners feel that JAC, which is famous for making trucks, is still quite different from NIO in terms of brand image, and it is a bit "down".
Many people have boldly speculated before: maybe remove the tail mark of JAC Motors, and NIO can sell a few more. Now that we have successfully gotten rid of OEM, customers are also happy, and NIO's positioning and brand value will be further enhanced, after all, at this stage, NIO is more important to create high-quality character design.
At present, NIO's brand matrix and product matrix are actually very rich.
In terms of brand matrix, NIO has prepared three brands: NIO, Alpine, and Firefly, and from the perspective of product matrix, NIO has three series, ET, ES, and EC, with a total of eight models, with prices in the range of 300,000-600,000 yuan, covering the main sales market of B and BA accounting for 80% of sales.
However, they can't fully help NIO establish a high-end image, because in addition to the foundry we mentioned above, from the cost performance to the technological innovation that users can observe, to the ultimate user experience, NIO seems to be a bit behind.
