It is reported that Ma Jingwu, a famous film educator, director and actor, died of illness on November 30 at the age of 86.
Ma Jingwu was born in 1938 and graduated from Beijing Film Academy in 1960. From 1977 to 1980, he was a member of the leading group of the Department of Acting. He used to be the head and chief faculty member of the performance teaching and research group.
Ma Jingwu's main courses include: "Performing Arts", "Film Performance Theory", and "Film and Television Performance Creation Practice". Directed the rehearsals and performances of graduation multi-act plays. He has written about 30,000 words of performance textbooks, theoretical articles and books, and actors' performance review articles, and about 200,000 words of script writing.
In addition to teaching, Ma Jingwu also filmed many classic films, including "The Red Lantern Hangs High", "Night Banquet", "Green Snake", "Cotai Boulevard", "Joyful Life" and so on.

Ma Jingwu was one of the first batch of undergraduates at the Beijing Film Academy, where he met his wife, Li Ranran. The latter two stayed in school together, and during their tenure of more than 40 years, Ma Jingwu and Li Ranran can be said to be full of peach and plum all over the world, and have cultivated countless well-known film and television stars, including Zhang Yimou, Tang Guoqiang, Zhang Jiayi, Wang Zhiwen, Zhang Tielin, Zhang Fengyi, Fang Shu, Shen Danping, Yu Feihong and so on.

In 2013, Ma Jingwu won the Special Honor Award of the "Golden Phoenix Award" of the 14th China Film Performing Arts Society.
In August 2021, the movie "Lie Detector" in which he participated was released, and he played Zuo Nan's father in the film, which was also his last performance.
