On June 25, 1966, Uncle Mu was born in a tribe in the Congo, Africa. As a child, his dream was to become a doctor to help people who were sick and unable to be treated because of poverty.

As he grew older, Uncle Mu grew taller and taller. When he was in high school, he grew to 2.13 meters, and at the suggestion of his father, Uncle Mu began to learn to play basketball, and his excellent static talent was also favored by the coach.

After that, as more and more games were played, Uncle Mu's skills became more mature. At the end of his senior season, he averaged 18 points, 12 rebounds and 5 blocks per game, earning him the title of the league's best defensive player.

In the summer of 1991, Uncle Mu announced his participation in the NBA draft, and was finally selected by the Nuggets with the fourth pick in the first round, becoming the first Congolese player in NBA history.

In his rookie season, Uncle Mu averaged 16 points, 12 rebounds and 3 blocks per game, and was selected as the All-Star, All-Defensive Team, and All-Rookie Team that year.

In the 1993-94 season, Uncle Mu helped the team reach the playoffs, and even eliminated the SuperSonics team ranked first in the regular season with the eighth place in the West, completing the first "Black Eight Miracle" in NBA history.

In five games, Uncle Mu made 31 blocks, and he won the NBA Defensive Player of the Year award for the first time that year.

At the Nuggets, Uncle Mu gradually grew into one of the toughest defensive players in the league, winning the block title for three consecutive seasons starting in 1994.

In 1996, Uncle Mu joined the Atlanta Hawks as a free agent and continued his top-tier defensive performance. During that time, he won the Defensive Player of the Year award twice and was named to the All-Defensive Team several times.

Due to the team's record never going further, Uncle Mu was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers in February 2001. He also reached the peak of his career, winning the fourth Defensive Player of the Year award in his career.

After Uncle Mu joined the Rockets, he became Yao Ming's replacement and also became his learning mentor. During his five years with the Rockets, Uncle Mu still maintained strong defensive ability, and became the oldest player to grab 20 rebounds and a double-double in a single game at the age of 40 and 42, respectively.
