There are two precious historical materials preserved
One is the reply of the Administrative Council of the Central People's Government to the former Ministry of Railways on the establishment and subordination of the Railway Corps, which reads: "On December 21, 1949, the section on the establishment of the Railway Corps, its establishment, establishment, supply, and supplementation is to remain under the Central Military Commission, and that the Ministry is still responsible for its work leadership and command, should be approved. The reply was made on January 23, 1950, and the person who approved it was "Premier Zhou Enlai".
Another source is a manuscript written on November 16, 1950 by Teng Daiyuan, then Minister of Railways. The manuscript reads: "Since the Ministry of Railways issued a call to go to the Northeast to participate in the work of supporting the front at the general meeting of all workers on November 6, everyone has responded one after another, and 1,360 volunteers have signed up, and the railway system has taken action to resist US aggression and aid Korea and defend the country." At the same time, the manuscript points out that all cadres and workers should work harder and respond to Premier Zhou's call with concrete actions.
These two precious historical materials bring us back to those years of arduous and bloody struggle.
At the beginning of the founding of New China, the Chinese people were desperate for peace and tranquility. But that aspiration was brutally challenged. In June 1950, the Korean Civil War broke out, and the U.S. government immediately intervened with arms. In early October 1950, despite repeated warnings from the Chinese Government, the US military brazenly crossed the 38th parallel and brought the flames of war to the Sino-Korean border, and the imperialist aggressors imposed the war on the Chinese people. The party Central Committee made a major strategic decision to "resist US aggression and aid Korea, and defend the homeland and the country."
On October 19, 1950, the Chinese People's Volunteers crossed the Yalu River. Beginning in November of the same year, the Railway Corps, under the unified leadership and command of the former Ministry of Railways, successively entered the DPRK to carry out the task of providing railway support in the theater, thus opening the prelude to the railway people's support for the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea.
During the two-year and nine-month war, a total of 190,000 railroad personnel from Northeast China, Beijing, Shandong, Jiangxi, Guangxi, and other parts of the country successively went to Korea to provide support, and undertook key tasks such as train scheduling, material transportation, line repair, and communication support. These respectable and lovely railway people adhered to the belief that everything is for the front line and everything for victory, and ensured the smooth flow of railway transportation with their lives and flesh, composing a heroic hymn to the majestic mountains and rivers.
Although the history is gone, the spirit is still shining. Relying on the unharmed mountains and rivers and the peace of the family and country fought in this war, upholding the status of a great power established by this war, and inheriting the spirit of the Chinese fought in this war, China's mountains and rivers are more magnificent today, and China's railway development is changing with each passing day.
Especially in the decade of the new era, China's railway industry has made historic achievements and undergone historic changes, built the world's largest high-speed railway network and advanced railway network, and the Fuxing has run on the vast land of the motherland. The China-Laos Railway, a landmark project of the Belt and Road Initiative, has been in operation smoothly for nearly two years, and the Jakarta-Bandung High-speed Railway, which adopts Chinese technology and Chinese standards, has been officially put into operation...
The railway people in the new era carry forward the great spirit of resisting US aggression and aiding Korea, inherit the spirit of "steel transportation lines that cannot be broken and bombed", and are full of confidence and strive to move towards the new era and enter a new journey, continue to struggle and move forward bravely.
