Q: What was the motivation for taking the art exam in the first place? Is there a story behind it?
Jiang Peiyan: I started learning piano from middle school, and when I broke off in the fifth grade, when I was in elementary school, I had a close friend who chose the art exam after graduating from junior high school, and released a few albums and held a few concerts. But I have always been based on cultural classes, and in the third year of junior high school, I obtained the qualification for a guaranteed student exam, and entered the high school I studied by mistake.
In the first two years of high school, my grades went up and down, and I was in the top five of my class when I was good, and I fell to the bottom fourth when I was bad. During the period, I discussed with my parents whether I could participate in the art exam, but I gave up. At that time, I had been out of piano for five years, and I didn't know anything about the mode and major of the art examination. Finally, at the end of the first semester of my sophomore year of high school, my parents agreed to let me try it out to see if I was suitable for the art exam. In the torment and hesitation, through the recommendation of Senior Sister Fang, I found the Golden Eagle, and my parents agreed with me to test it. On March 28, 2021, I took a day off from school and came to Golden Eagle for a professional test. For piano I played Chopin's Nocturne in E flat major and Czerny 299 No. 1. Because I haven't played romantic and classical for too long, plus five or six years of playing the wild piano, my hand shape and lines have completely collapsed. Vocal music and the third door are zero foundation, I still remember that I sang "Farewell" during the test, and I sang the pitch directly because I didn't know the concept of model singing during the ear training test. After the test, the initial goal is to be in the top 100 in the provincial joint examination. It was this test that gave me a lot of confidence, because I had no idea what level I was at until then, and it was only at that stage that my piano teacher said I was "talented". Since then, my life has changed completely.
During the period from the time I finished the test to the time I entered the school in July, I actually had a struggle in my heart. Because of the goals and plans during this time, the enthusiasm for learning has been greatly improved, and the monthly exam in May rushed to the top 16 in the class, and the final exam in June rushed to the top ten in the class, and the total score of the college entrance examination is estimated to be about 660 points. At that time, I hesitated, whether to continue to take the cultural course route in school or come out to take the art exam? I can't make up my mind. Because my parents were initially worried that I would waste so many years of hard work in culture classes. In the end, I chose to take a different step and officially started the journey of the art examination.
Q: From the beginning of the art examination to the present, what is your biggest change or gain?
Jiang Peiyan: The first day I came to Golden Eagle was very anxious and socially afraid. It was the first time I had traveled so far away from home to study, and I was faced with classmates and teachers who were completely unfamiliar to me, and I felt very uncomfortable all of a sudden. I still remember sitting alone in the last row of the classroom on the afternoon of my first day, not knowing what to do, so I had to take care of my own math papers. My parents told me to work hard, so I did everything I could to improve myself. When I returned to the dormitory at dinner, the teacher who opened the door with misty blue hair asked me where I was cooking, and I said the first sentence, and then I gradually became familiar with my roommates in the dormitory, and became brothers for life. In the first piano lesson, my hands were completely out of shape, and it took me a long time to barely stand up to my fingers, which was really hard for me to be honest. Practicing over and over again in the piano room every day and tapping on the white keys is really torture for a person who is used to playing the wild piano. My piano teacher, Mr. Li, really helped me a lot, allowing me to get rid of the problem of my wrist collapsing and making my fingers more flexible. In the first vocal lesson, as a vocal novice, I was not confident. Zhou Xiao asked me to sing a few pop songs to help me find musicality, and told me that anything is possible, so that I should have the confidence to score above 80 in the joint entrance examination. From the big white voice at the beginning to the B hanging in the chest now, I really didn't dare to think about it at that time. Teacher Tang and Teacher Jin gave me a lot of help in the sight-singing class, allowing me to start from 0 and finally get a score of 96 in the joint entrance examination. Ear training itself is not a difficult task for me, and Mr. Wen's more advice and guidance on piano is also very valuable. There are also breath training taught by Mr. Liu in the voice practice class, and Mr. Wang taught us how to perform on stage in the stage performance class, etc., so that I have gained a lot as a person who has no experience at all. Composition has always been my target major, and the two teachers, Mr. Xue and Mr. He Shenghong, have given me a lot of professional knowledge that I have never known before, as if opening the door to a new world, allowing me to gradually have theoretical support from a wild composer enthusiast. Mr. Yang always gave me direction when I was confused, so that I, who originally had "choice disorder", bravely made choices again and again, and finally came to this day step by step.
In mid-August, when Yang Xiao called me to the office and told me that I was going to rush to the upper voice, I was completely confused. When I was 6 years old, I attended a summer camp and had the privilege of playing "The White-Haired Girl" with the symphony orchestra in the concert hall of Shangyin, and since then this school has been a holy, unattainable dream in my life. At that time, Yang Xiao told me that if I came a year earlier, I would have a 100% chance, because if I was a year late, the probability would be 80% for the time being. It was all very vague for me at that time, and I just knew that there was such a goal waiting for me. After that, I applied for an extended evening self-study, and practiced the piano, songs, and culture every day and night. I changed the etude in September, feeling very depressed because I didn't fit in, and I wanted to change it again, but in the end I finally gnawed down the seemingly simple piece. My roommate, Mr. Zheng Yue, once woke me up: "If you want to get a high ranking in the joint entrance examination, you have to work hard in vocal music." "So in order to solve the problem of the root of the tongue, I practiced the sound with my tongue with a yarn; In order to solve the problem of lack of physical strength, I practiced all the vocal works in a series of ways; In order to solve the pharyngeal wall strength, I practiced the nu vowel and developed the overtones at the same time... In terms of vocal music, Zhou proofreading has helped me a lot, and I can't imagine that I have made such progress myself. After changing from the men's middle school to the men's high school, I once threw away the chest cavity, and Zhou Xiao told me to use it again, so I pondered again and again, thinking about how to make the volume bigger while going up the treble, and the "stealing teacher" Zhuocheng baby finally solved the problem of treble and cavity. From "On the Songhua River" to "Mother's Love", from "Starlight" to "Farewell to the Home of Love", from "The Negative Man" to "Love Forever", songs that I once couldn't control can now be sung in their entirety. The music of Beijing Normal University taught me to report my vocal expertise, and I relied on vocal music to fight my way out of 1,200 people and become one of the 64 people who entered the re-examination, which gave me great encouragement. At first, I had a fear of the seven-sharp concert allegro, and then the more I played, the more addicted I became, the more I couldn't even play the thirty-second notes at first, and now I have passed so many school exams with this piece, and Mr. Li and Mr. Mao have made great contributions.
The Golden Eagle saved my life that could have been bleak and mediocre. Compared to music, I don't like mathematics, physics and chemistry, and I've been suppressed in that environment for too long. If I hadn't come here, my senior year of high school would have been full of pain and despair, I didn't know which school to study in the future, I would have studied like a nerd who could only read, and I was even more afraid of failing the college entrance examination. Here I met like-minded friends, who had fought harmony and chatted about life with Yaosang, Big Brother, and Hao Junyuan for countless nights, and helped so many people play the accompaniment so proficient that they didn't need to play the score, and I slowly had the opportunity to release myself from a dead reader. I'm a very strange person, and I will be very respectful to those who are nice to me, but I will be very rigid to those who are not kind to me. I wasn't an absolute good student in the conventional way, I was just suppressed in that prison-like environment for too long, but fortunately I wasn't suffocated to death. So I'm free, I don't have to be bound by those bullshit and unreasonable school rules, I finally get the freedom to dress, I no longer need to be wrapped in a gray school uniform every day, I finally don't have to stretch my neck in the dark and wait for a pitiful 22-hour vacation where I can't do anything, what I'm learning and what I'm practicing is what I really love, I'm running away, once locked up and free, and then wandering between heaven and earth. At first I thought it would be hard for me to get together with others, but then I realized that I wasn't. Before the joint entrance examination, the second male dormitory must sing the negative person when taking a shower every day, and during the holidays, he pedaled a bicycle and walked through the buildings wantonly to a place to eat and drink, such a life is something I have never had, and I sincerely feel that this kind of life is really good, I made a right choice, this is the most precious part of my youth, and it is also the most glorious year of my youth. If it weren't for this year, I don't know if I would still have the energy to study, and maybe I would have even fallen into an endless abyss, torn to pieces by depression and stress. In Golden Eagle, I have regained my self-confidence little by little, eliminated my shortcomings and sufferings little by little, and in the year of hard work of our school's cultural students, I dedicated my time to what I love the most, and now I rely on my favorite to have the Communication University of China.
