--- 2023 Perioperative Clinical Knowledge and Skills Competition for Undergraduate Interns of the Department of Anesthesiology and Surgery of the Second Hospital of Zhejiang University
Clinical internship is an important part of undergraduate teaching, the beginning of medical students' dedication to clinical work, and the bridge from theoretical knowledge to clinical practice. How to cultivate the clinical thinking ability of anesthesiology students and cultivate excellent talents for anesthesiology is an important topic in anesthesiology teaching. In order to strengthen the comprehensive clinical ability of undergraduate interns, promote the organic combination of theory and practice, and improve the humanistic quality of medicine, the Department of Anesthesiology and Surgery of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine successfully held the "2023 Undergraduate Intern Perioperative Clinical Knowledge and Skills Competition" from September to October 2023, with 66 interns majoring in anesthesiology from eight colleges and universities participating in the competition.

The competition includes two stages: the preliminary round (September 17) and the final round (October 15), with four competition items, including tracheal intubation, basic life support, anesthesia record sheet specification record, preoperative consultation and evaluation. According to different colleges and regions, it is divided into 6 teams, and each team is equipped with 2 team leaders to be responsible for the mobilization of team students and pre-competition training. In the preliminaries, the team leader first conducts workshop-style basic training for the interns, evaluates and guides the interns' performance, and then each team competes within the team, and one seeded student is selected for each project to participate in the finals.

The final will officially kick off on October 15, 2023, led by Director Yan Min, planned by Yu Lina, deputy director of the department and Wang Yi, director of teaching, Yao Yuanyuan, teacher Liu Yi, leader of the intern doctor teaching group, and teacher Wang Chaoqiong, teaching secretary, and invited the leaders of each subspecialty of the department and the teaching backbone as judges. “

Director Yu Lina made an opening speech on behalf of the department. In her speech, she expressed her heartfelt thanks to the participating students for their serious training, the rigorous guidance of the team leader and the hard work of the competition organizers, and hoped to continuously improve the level and effectiveness of anesthesiology education through the way of "promoting learning through competition and teaching through competition". Through the competition, interns can have a deeper understanding of anesthesiology, consolidate their professional skills and literacy, and wish the competition a complete success.

On the basis of the preliminaries, the final projects not only increased the difficulty, but also added relevant theoretical knowledge and clinical scene problems for each project, which tested the students' "basic skills" and comprehensive ability to apply what they have learned.

After fierce competition in various competitions, the best team award was finally won by the "Xu Xu Tuzhi Team" from Xuzhou Medical University. Liu Yangming, Yang Songyuan, Zhou Junyu and Wang Lu won the individual championships respectively.
After the competition, Zhou Junyu said in his acceptance speech: "Through this competition, we deeply understand the importance of integrating theoretical knowledge into clinical practice, because as a future anesthesiologist, in the face of various crisis events in the perioperative period, it is particularly important to be proficient in various clinical skills and thinking patterns." During the finals, in the face of the kind and "strict" comments of the judges, the students were nervous, but the careful preparation of the teachers and students over the past few days, and the support of the "comrades-in-arms" on the sidelines, helped us to face the difficulties and achieve good results! We're going to keep going! ”
On behalf of the team of teachers, Mr. Wu Zhiguang, the leader of Xu Yi, expressed his thoughts: "As a teacher, I am proud of the achievements of my students! I was also deeply moved by the spirit of continuous learning, courage to try, and pursuit of progress by the students! The students performed well in the competition, not only being recognized and appreciated by the judges, but also setting an example and benchmark among the students. I hope that their successful experience and fighting spirit will also inspire other students to continue to work hard and pursue progress. ”

Finally, Director Yan Min summarized the event and reminded everyone: "Anesthesiology, as a discipline with strong professionalism and practice, not only requires solid professional theoretical knowledge, but also has good clinical thinking and high-level skill operation ability. Clinical internship is an important stage for undergraduate students to enter medical practice activities, a key period for bridging and integrating the previous medical theoretical knowledge with the subsequent anesthesia practice, and an important role transition period from students to anesthesiologists. Through the competition, we should "teach and learn from each other", continuously improve the education level of clinical teachers, be a "good teacher" in the minds of students, and also stimulate students' enthusiasm and motivation for learning, so that they can be more actively engaged in learning, promote the improvement of the comprehensive quality of medical students, improve the quality and effect of teaching, and lay a solid foundation for students' future career development. ”
