On the evening of November 1, BYD's latest production and sales express report arrived as scheduled.

According to the data, in the past October, BYD sold a total of 301,833 new energy vehicles, a record high, but the year-on-year growth rate narrowed to 38.57%.

Among them, BYD sold a total of 301,095 new energy passenger vehicles in September, and its monthly sales exceeded 300,000 units for the first time, an increase of 5.00% month-on-month, and an increase of 38.57% over the same period last year.

Both domestic and foreign markets are blooming

Specifically, BYD has completed the layout of the five major brand matrices of BYD Dynasty, BYD Ocean, Denza, Yangwang and Equation Leopard, among which, the sales of BYD Dynasty/Ocean brand reached a new high, with a total of 289,595 new vehicles sold in October, an increase of 5.79% month-on-month, and a growth rate of 33.14% over the same period last year.

Compared with the BYD Dynasty/Ocean brand, the growth rate of the DENZA brand slowed down in October, falling by 12.59% month-on-month, with monthly sales of 11,500 new vehicles.

At the same time, it is worth noting that the proportion of BYD DM hybrid models continued to narrow in October, reaching 45.03% for the first time since June 2021. Correspondingly, the outbreak of pure electric vehicles, taking the Dolphin as an example, has ushered in the 500,000th new car off the assembly line since its launch in 2021 to October 2023, and has achieved monthly sales of more than 30,000 units for seven consecutive months since March this year. Barring no surprises, dolphin sales will remain high in October.

In addition to meeting the needs of the domestic market, BYD continues to focus on overseas markets. Since BYD officially announced the "Passenger Car Overseas" plan in May 2021, after more than two years of development, BYD's new energy passenger vehicle footprint has spread to more than 70 countries and regions such as Japan, Germany, Australia, Brazil, and the United Arab Emirates, and more than 400 cities.

As of October 2023, it still maintained a monthly sales volume of more than 10,000 units, reaching 30,521 units, exceeding 30,000 units for the first time, an increase of 8.85% month-on-month, and maintaining a growth rate of 220.3% compared to the same period last year.

This trend is still ongoing. On October 25, the 47th Tokyo Motor Show (renamed "Japan Mobility Show" in 2023) officially opened at the Tokyo Big Sight, BYD brought five new energy models and core technologies to the show, becoming the first Chinese car company in history to participate in the auto show, and officially announced that the pure electric coupe "Seal" will be launched in Japan in the spring of 2024.

As early as July 2022, BYD has entered the Japanese passenger car market, and has now opened 15 stores across Japan, covering Tokyo, Osaka, Yokohama, Nagoya, Fukuoka and other cities, by creating a personalized and convenient consumer experience, narrowing the distance with consumers. BYD plans to open 100 stores in Japan by the end of 2025 in cooperation with high-quality local dealers and partners to meet the increased demand of local consumers for new energy vehicles.

So far, BYD's overseas sales of new energy passenger vehicles have exceeded 226,000 in the past 16 months alone.

Make every effort to sprint to the annual sales target of 3 million vehicles

So far, BYD Auto has sold 2,381,471 vehicles this year, an increase of 69.75% over the same period last year. If calculated according to BYD's annual sales target of 3 million units, it has completed 79.38% of its annual target.

This also means that in order to achieve this goal, BYD needs to complete nearly 620,000 vehicles in the next two months of this year, with an average of 309,000 units per month. Obviously, according to the current growth rate of BYD's monthly sales, this goal is inevitable.

Taking the Song L as an example, as the most anticipated new car this year, the Song L opened pre-sales on October 31 with 4 rear-wheel drive versions and 1 four-wheel drive version, with a pre-sale price of 220,000-280,000 yuan, or compete with Model Y.

At the same time, it is BYD that opened a limited-time promotional measure in November, that is, corvette 07: 2000 yuan to 20000 yuan; Dolphin Seal Champion Edition: 2,000 yuan to 9,000 yuan; Song PLUS Champion Edition, Destroyer 05 Champion Edition: 2000 yuan to 7000 yuan, which is bound to further promote monthly sales to achieve new results.

In terms of high-end brands, the personalized brand formula Leopard and Leopard 5 have opened blind booking, with a price range of 300,000 yuan to 400,000 yuan. On October 30, the first batch of 70 directly-operated stores of Formula Leopard officially opened for trial operation, including 10 directly-operated stores to be opened soon.

In September, the U8 luxury version was officially launched, with a price of 1.098 million yuan, and the official data product orders exceeded 30,000 units.

At the end of October, the first batch of Yangwang Auto stores have been put into trial operation, covering 21 cities such as Shanghai, Hangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu and Qingdao, and stores in Beijing, Guangzhou, Foshan, Dongguan, Jinan, Guiyang, Kunming and other cities will soon open trial operation. By the end of this year, Yangwang Auto will open more than 90 directly-operated stores in more than 40 cities across the country to achieve coverage of first-tier and new first-tier cities.
