One thing to say, the fingerprint module is indeed not so eye-catching compared to the processor, screen, and fast charging, which are easy to use parameters to divide the configuration.

However, the difference in the use experience of different types of fingerprint modules is still relatively large.

At present, there are three main categories of under-display fingerprints:

Short-focus fingerprint, ultra-thin optical fingerprint, ultrasonic fingerprint.

At present, one of the best ones recognized by friends is naturally the ultrasonic fingerprint scheme.

In fact, ultrasonic fingerprints have long appeared in the non-full-screen period.

The Xiaomi Mi 5S in 2016 used this technology.

With 10,000 micro-vibration sensors, the 3D features of fingerprints are scanned in the form of ultrasound, even through a piece of glass.

Even if your fingers are stained with water or oil, you can unlock them directly.

In fact, with the blessing of this technology, the front glass of the Xiaomi Mi 5s can be completely integrated.

The X20 Plus uses a collimator solution from Synaptics.

The following year's vivo X21 featured an improved second-generation collimator solution.

But the follow-up also chose to give up and use lens-type under-screen optical fingerprints instead.

The principle of the short-focus fingerprint scheme is easier to understand than that of the collimator scheme.

In layman's terms, it is to stuff a small lens under the screen, take a photo of your finger and then compare and identify.

Although earlier short-throw solutions were more susceptible to light interference.

However, after many iterations, the current short-throw fingerprint basically has no slots in terms of recognition.

The thickness is only 1/10 of that of the short-throw module, so that the ultra-thin under-display fingerprint does not need to give way to other components everywhere.

This makes the fingerprint position easier under the display, and allows the phone to fit a larger battery and linear motor.

However, Goodix can't do a wide area for the time being, and can only be a single-point ultrasound.

However, the cost of Qualcomm 3D wide area is three times that of Goodix's single-point ultrasound.

In other words, it is only a little more expensive than the ultra-thin under-screen fingerprint.

Compared with other people's ultrasound, the price of domestic products is too cheap.
