On the morning of October 31, the Shanghai No. 1 Intermediate People's Court held an open trial of the first instance of the case of the defendant Xu Yao's intentional homicide and the release of dangerous substances. The First Branch of the Shanghai Municipal People's Procuratorate sent personnel to appear in court to support the prosecution, and the defendant Xu Yao, his defender, the victim's agent ad litem, evaluators, and persons with specialized knowledge appeared in court to participate in the proceedings. The trial ended at 10:15 p.m. on the same day.
During the trial, the court conducted an investigation into the facts of the crime charged in the indictment, and listened to the arguments of the prosecution and defense and the defendant's final statement. The court has protected the procedural rights of defendants, defenders, and agents ad litem in accordance with law. More than 50 people, including the defendants, the victims' families, members of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and people from all walks of life, attended the trial.
It was learned from the announcement of the opening of the Shanghai No. 1 Intermediate People's Court that the plaintiffs in the case were Zhao Jilong and Zhao Yuyao, and the defendant was Xu Yao, and the cause of action was intentional homicide.

It is worth mentioning that the two plaintiffs in this case were former executives of Youzu. Tianyancha App shows that Zhao Jilong is the legal representative and executive of a member company of Shanghai Youzu Technology Group; Zhao Yuyao is a shareholder of XD Network Co., Ltd. and worked in Shanghai Jiayou Enterprise Management Partnership (a shareholder of Youzu Network).

On the same day, the Shanghai police issued a police report stating that at about 17 o'clock on December 17, 2020, the police received a report that a hospital found that the patient Lin (male, 39 years old) was suspected of being poisoned during diagnosis and treatment. After receiving the report, the police immediately launched an investigation. After on-site investigation and investigation, it was found that Lin's colleague Xu (male, 39 years old) was suspected of committing a major crime. At present, Xu has been criminally detained by the police in accordance with the law, and the relevant investigation work is being further carried out.
According to media reports, the patient Lin was the founder and then chairman of Youzu Network, Lin Qi, and his colleague Xu, whose full name was Xu Yao, was 40 years old at the time, and was the CEO of Youzu Pictures and Three-Body Universe Company.
On the evening of December 25 of the same year, Youzu Network issued an announcement stating that the company received a notice from the family of Lynch, the chairman and general manager, actual controller and controlling shareholder of the company on December 25, 2020, that Lynch passed away on December 25, 2020 due to ineffective treatment.
