Title: Chinese private entrepreneur Lu Zuofu: A national hero in the retreat of Yichang

After the release of the film "Dunkirk", people learned more about the great retreat that took place on the battlefields of Europe. However, as early as 1938, there was a larger, more rescued, and longer-lasting retreat on the Chinese battlefield, which was the Yichang Retreat. The operation saved up to 1.5 million Chinese people and was personally organized by Lu Zuofu, the king of China's shipbuilding industry.

Lu Zuofu (1893-1952) was born in Hechuan County, Sichuan, and was educated from an early age and actively devoted himself to the revolutionary cause. He is an old man full of infinite affection for the nation and the country. Although he committed suicide after the founding of the People's Republic of China, Chairman Mao once called him "a person who must never be forgotten".

The Great Evacuation of Yichang took place in 1938, after the defeat of Wuhan and the loss of Wuhan, a large number of materials and factory equipment evacuated from Wuhan to Chongqing were stranded in Yichang, with a total weight of nearly 100,000 tons, as well as a large number of accompanying staff. Faced with the problems of Japanese air raids, materials, equipment and personnel, Lu Zuofu decided to organize a retreat from Yichang.

However, the retreat was not an easy task, and Yichang, as the "chokepoint" of the upper Yangtze River shipping route, had a narrow channel and limited capacity. In addition, at that time, China's land transportation railways were not perfect, and shipping became the only option. Lu Zuofu used his wisdom and courage to formulate an innovative three-stage navigation method, which greatly improved the efficiency of transportation.

Lu Zuofu mobilized ships and related resources to urgently launch the Yichang retreat. The operation, which lasted 40 days, transported more than 1.5 million people and more than 1 million tons of supplies, including vital military supplies. With his organizational skills and determination, Lu Zuofu achieved a task that would have taken a year.

The process of the retreat from Yichang was arduous and dangerous, and the Japanese government bombed Yichang and its shipping routes many times, causing huge losses. However, the efforts and sacrifices of Lu Zuofu and Minsheng Company finally sent the materials and personnel to their destination safely.

Lu Zuofu is a typical patriotic businessman who has given all his strength and wisdom for the country and the nation. His contribution is not only reflected in the retreat of Yichang, but also in his efforts to save the country and promote China's economic recovery. However, in the period after the founding of the People's Republic of China, Lu Zuofu was slandered and committed suicide unjustly. He proved his innocence and loyalty with his life.

Lu Zuofu's story tells us that as a businessman, you can also make great contributions to the country and the nation. His spirit inspires us to strengthen our beliefs, pursue our dreams, and do our part for our country and nation in the face of difficulties and challenges.

The Yichang retreat is a witness to history, and Lu Zuofu is a hero we must not forget. May we always remember his contributions and inherit his patriotic spirit.
