On September 12th, I got up early in the morning and set off from Lushui City, Nujiang River, and went to Jihongqiao.
Ji Hongqiao is located on the Lancang River at the junction of Longyang District of Baoshan City and Yongping County of Dali Prefecture, and is a chain bridge flying on the cliff, and the Jihong Bridge before 1986 is the oldest iron chain bridge on the Lancang River in the mainland.
The location of Ji Hongqiao is the Lanjin Ancient Ferry of the Western Han Dynasty, and the Eastern Han Dynasty once spread the ballad of "Crossing Bonan, Yue Lanjin". Two centuries before the appearance of the Silk Road, from Xichang in Sichuan, through Yao'an, Xiaguan and Baoshan in Yunnan, the "Southwest Silk Road" into Myanmar, India and other countries has been formed, and Jihongqiao is the throat of this ancient post road.
The earliest Lanjin ancient ferry was a boat and raft ferry; At the beginning of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Yongping erected the rattan bridge; In the year of Yuan Zhen (1295), the wooden bridge was rebuilt and named Ji Hongqiao; In the eleventh year of Chenghua in the Ming Dynasty (1475), the iron chain bridge was rebuilt, and it was rebuilt during the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty; In 1986, the old bridge was washed away due to flooding; From July 1998 to June 1999, Baoshan Dongjing Association raised 120,000 yuan to re-erect a steel cable wooden panel bridge with a length of 120 meters and a width of 2 meters at 20 meters on the original bridge, named "Shangde Bridge"; In 2007, after Huaneng Lancang River Hydropower Co., Ltd. built the Xiaowan Hydropower Station on the Lancang River, it funded the reconstruction of Jihong Bridge, which is a steel cable bridge, which looks relatively simple, with a load limit of 5 tons, and only cars are allowed to pass.
The original Ji Hongqiao had been equipped with tax offices and case-handling agencies, the two ends of the bridge were built with the bridge pavilion Guan Lou, the natural cliff wall of Putuo rock in the south of the bridge was engraved with inscriptions such as "the first bridge in the southwest", "the cliff crossing", "the fortress Tiancheng", etc., after several generations of carving, it is the provincial cultural relics protection unit of Yunnan Province. The great traveler Xu Xiake once came here and wrote "Until the throat of the West, it cannot be changed for a thousand years".

Jihongqiao is the key road that must be passed through to develop the southwest in the past dynasties, and has extremely important significance in terms of geographical location, and is known as the "first bridge in the southwest". It is also one of the most famous historical sites on the Bonan Ancient Road in Yunnan. In May 1942, the Japanese devils sent more than 30 planes to bomb over Jihongqiao, but they were spared because of the dangerous terrain.
In June 1999, Huaneng Lancang River Hydropower Co., Ltd. began to prepare for the construction of Xiaowan Hydropower Station, which officially started on January 20, 2002. Because the cliff carvings of Jihongqiao are located at 25°16'53" north latitude and 99°22'24" east longitude, at 1182 meters below the normal water storage level of 1242 meters in the Xiaowan Hydropower Station Reservoir, the hydropower station will be submerged after impoundment.
In order to cooperate with the construction of Xiaowan Hydropower Station, in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Protection of Cultural Relics, entrusted by Yunnan Huaneng Lancang River Hydropower Co., Ltd. of Yunnan Provincial Immigration and Development Bureau, and confirmed by Yunnan Provincial Cultural Relics Bureau, Yunnan Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology undertook the survey, mapping, design and implementation of the Jihongqiao cliff rock carving protection project.
In accordance with the principle of "in-situ protection, off-site site selection, and selection of key stone carvings for replication", after taking pictures, rubbing, precise surveying and mapping, and scientific and technological protection of the stone relics of the cliff stone carvings, from July to November 2014, on the rock wall located at a vertical distance of about 190 meters above the original site of Pingpo Village, Shuizhai Township, Longyang District, the Yunnan Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology organized the relevant construction units to select some important stone carvings to be reproduced, ensuring that visitors can now enjoy the style of the cliff carvings in Jihongqiao.
Above the Jihong Bridge, you can see that there are two bridges in the sky, one should be the Lancang River Expressway Bridge, and the other should be an oil or gas pipeline bridge.
Because it was a temporary decision to go to see Ji Hongqiao, the homework was not in place. When we arrived at Pingpo Village, we knew that from Jihongqiao to Shanyang Town in Yongping County 20 kilometers past, through Yongchang Highway can go to Hangrui Expressway, to reach Xiaguan City in Dali Prefecture only about 2 and a half hours, but because we still want to go to Baoshan City Longyang District to see the Bajie Temple and then go to Xiaguan, hesitate for a long time or turn back. Although there are only more than 50 kilometers from Pingpo Village in Shuizhai Township to Bajie Temple, the road condition of this county and township road is too poor, and the road is bumpy all the way, and the passage time is about 2 hours. And the best route for our trip should be from Lushui City to Longyang District to see Bajie Temple, and then then to Jihongqiao, and then do not look back, from Shanyang Town, Yongping County, Shanghangrui Expressway directly to Xiaguan City.
