"Titanic: The Sinking Truth and Human Choices"
On the night of April 14, 1912, the Titanic collided with an iceberg on its maiden voyage, and finally sank to the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean, killing more than 1,500 people on board. This disaster shocked the world and made people reflect on the good and evil of human nature and the choice of life and death.
The appearance of the Titanic is a symbol of the development of the maritime industry, but also symbolizes the luxury and progress of mankind. However, there were many flaws in the design and construction of the Titanic, the most fatal of which was the decision to reduce the number of lifeboats and the move to reduce the height of the baffles. All of this poses a hidden danger to the safety of passengers on board.
After the Titanic hit the iceberg, the crew was faced with a choice of life and death. Charles Leietter, the only surviving deputy captain of the Titanic, did his best to protect and evacuate the other passengers, despite being mentally prepared for no return. He organized the last emergency meeting, directed the crew through various tasks, and jumped into the sea at the last moment, fortunately being rescued. Letler's memoirs detailed the details of the sinking of the Titanic, documenting the disaster he experienced and letting future generations understand the scene.
In contrast to Leitler, some male passengers showed selfishness and cowardice when disaster struck. They did everything they could to find a chance to survive, even using various means to get a seat in a lifeboat. However, some female passengers chose to face death with their loved ones and stayed on board. This different attitude towards death reveals the difference between good and evil in human nature.
After the sinking of the Titanic, White Star Chairman Bruce Ismay was successfully rescued, but was blamed for deciding to continue sailing within 10 minutes of the disaster, causing the Titanic to sink even more quickly. Ismay's reputation was ruined, and the company's reputation suffered significantly. Eventually, Ismay hid in a villa in Ireland until illness and guilt took his life.
Letterler's choice to hide the truth was to protect his colleagues, a decision that also imposed a lifelong burden. However, time does not hide the truth. Louise Paton, Charles Leiette's granddaughter, finally revealed the truth about the sinking of the "Titanic", allowing people to understand the various reasons and human choices in the accident.
In the face of death, what kind of attitude people will choose, what kind of moral behavior they choose, this is a question worth thinking about and reflecting. The disaster of the Titanic not only shocked the world, but also showed the good and evil of human nature and the importance of choice.
