Recently, a United States military base was attacked again. According to media reports, the United States has just issued a warning to Iran, as a result of which a large number of militants broke into the US base in the African country of Kenya. A series of explosions erupted from the base, and militants launched a fierce attack, resulting in the destruction of many aircraft, as well as American military casualties, and the fire spread and the situation was urgent.
Earlier, the United States killed General Suleimani against Iran in the Middle East, an action that angered Iran. In retaliation against the United States, Iran acted immediately. As we all know, Iran has extensive influence in the Middle East and has some allied forces willing to follow Iran's orders and cooperate with Iran. The attack on the American base in Kenya was likely to avenge the death of General Lemani.
So what other means does Iran have to retaliate against the United States? As a missile power in the Middle East, Iran has advanced anti-ship missile technology, as well as numerous missile boats. What's more, Iran controls the Strait of Hormuz, a key conduit for Middle Eastern oil exports. If Iran blocks the strait, it will trigger a global energy crisis, which the United States does not want. In addition, Iran has a large number of ballistic missiles with a range sufficient to cover most of the Middle East. If Iran responds with ballistic missiles, U.S. military bases in the Middle East will become a sea of fire, and U.S. forces will suffer huge losses. Although the United States has deployed anti-missile systems in the Middle East, these systems are difficult to cope with tens of thousands of missiles.
The United States currently has only two options. One is to withdraw troops from the Middle East because Iranian missiles cannot threaten the U.S. mainland. However, given the significant resources the United States has invested in the region, a complete withdrawal is unlikely. Therefore, the United States may choose to partially reduce the number of troops, but will not completely abandon the Middle East. The only way out may be to communicate and negotiate with Iran through diplomatic means to gain Iran's understanding. Iran is also reluctant to go to war with the United States, and as long as the United States is willing to compromise, it can hope to reach a mutually acceptable solution, which is the best outcome for both the United States and Iran.
