"The moment I walked out of the curtain and stepped on the stage, I was suddenly full of energy, and I didn't have any distractions in my heart at that time, I only threw myself into the role of 'Patient No. 5', on a 360-degree stage, living his joys and sorrows, spring, summer, autumn and winter." Zhang Han said.

A few days ago, the 11th year tour of the Yanghua version of "Dreamlike Dream" was staged at the Fuzhou Strait Culture and Art Center for the first time. Known as one of the most watched dramas in Chinese theater at the beginning of the 21st century, "Dream Like a Dream" has received rave reviews since its premiere in 2013, creating a beautiful dream for the audience on stage.

The play is produced by Wang Keran, the founder of Yanghua Drama, starring Xu Qing, Hu Huizhong, Zhang Han, Zhang Liang, Zhao Ziqi and other actors, the whole play takes the fate of patient No. 5 and Gu Xianglan as the main line, spanning from Asia to Europe, freely switching the life stories of others in the protagonist's life experience. In the play, Zhang Han challenges the classic character "Patient No. 5" and embarks on a journey of percussion and life.

In the play, Zhang Han wears gold-rimmed glasses, a brown jacket and a dark scarf, looking sunny and elegant. After the curtain call, some audience members commented: "It witnessed Zhang Hanxin's growth and plasticity in performance." ”

On the day of the premiere, the cover news reporter opened an in-depth conversation with Zhang Han in the background.

"This character is full of ups and downs of life, the story is rich and twisty, and the beauty of it is to tell the whole life, not the experience of a certain stage." Zhang Han said frankly that this drama performance is more like entering a new stage of life. From the stage of Chinese opera to society, and now back to the stage of drama, this is a new beginning.

In 2009, Zhang Han entered the entertainment industry with the role of "Murong Yunhai" in "Let's Watch the Meteor Shower", which set a new rating record for mainland idol dramas that year. Since then, he has starred in emotional TV series such as "The Price of the Victorious Girl", "Shanshan is Coming", "Warm Strings" and so on. In 2017, he participated in the movie "Wolf Warrior II", which allowed many audiences to see more possibilities for him in interpreting characters.

In the past year, Zhang Han has rarely been active in the public's vision, but the discussion about him has not stopped on social platforms. Zhang Han told reporters that during this time, he learned to feel in life, and he used to regard work as the whole of life, but now work is only a part of life. Feeling the relationship between people, people and society, and people and nature in life can make him grow into a better actor.

In the face of some doubts from the outside world, Zhang Han said that in the actor industry, it is necessary to accept the multiple voices of the audience. "We are grateful for the support of the audience, and we must also humbly accept criticism and doubts. I will face these voices head-on and make adjustments, turning them into motivation to improve myself and present more works that are recognized by the audience. ”

Put the viewer's eyes

Imagine 1,000 cameras

Cover: "Dreamlike Dream" is an 8-hour drama with a 360-degree wrap-around stage. Not only do you have a lot of lines throughout the show, but you also need to express the emotions of the characters at different stages, what kind of challenge is it for you?

Zhang Han: The stage of "Dream Like a Dream" is wonderful, it is a 360-degree wrap-around stage, in addition to the regular audience seats, there is also a "lotus pond" audience with a 360-degree view of the play, which directly shortens the distance between the audience and the actors. On the stage, it is necessary to face the audience less than one meter away, but also to take care of the farthest audience, which requires the actors to interact with the audience with vivid and natural performances and sincere and full emotions throughout the performance process, which is a unique stage difficulty.

At first, I was not very comfortable on stage, because I could clearly feel the sight of the audience of "Lotus Pond", which was completely different from when I filmed on set. During filming, except for the camera and cameraman in front of me, the rest of the staff will try to avoid the line of sight to ensure the performance space. Later, I quickly adjusted my state and imagined the audience's eyes as if there were 1,000 cameras watching me (laughs). I can also adjust my emotions and state in time according to the feedback of the audience, which to a certain extent stimulates the desire to perform. My emotions and the emotions of the audience are blended together, and the two can achieve "same frequency resonance" in a certain situation, which is a feeling that has never been felt before.

Cover news: You have participated in dramas such as "Home" and "Ivanov" in Chinese opera, this is your first appearance on the drama stage since your debut, why did you try drama again? What was your experience with the performance of "Dreamlike Dreams"?

Zhang Han: I used to have regrets on the college stage. After stepping into society and engaging in the profession of an actor for more than ten years, I have always wanted to return to the stage and fulfill a dream that I once had. Returning to the stage under the current life experience, experience and state, I feel that the stage is really wonderful. Before the first day of the premiere, I was actually very nervous, but the moment I stepped out of the curtain and stepped on the stage, it was full of energy.

Every scene after the appearance of "Patient No. 5" faces a very important and irreversible encounter in his life. There is no conventional drama process in the middle of the two adjacent scenes, and how to interpret the emotional turns between each scene and the precise connection between different emotions is a big challenge for me.

Interpret your own "Patient No. 5"

Colliding for a better "theatrical spark"

Cover News: After the premiere, many audiences gave high praise and praise to your "Patient No. 5", how have you progressed and grown in performance?

Zhang Han: First of all, I would like to thank the producer Mr. Keran, the directors of the rehearsal and the actors in the same group for giving me a lot of help. When rehearsing, they would share their experiences with me, which gave me the feeling of the stage and gave me a lot of space to play my role. I think this is just the beginning, there is still a lot of room for improvement.

On the basis of my own experience, I will feel more inside the character, and what I present on the stage every day is a different "patient No. 5". I injected my own understanding into the characters, looking for some freshness in each scene to collide with a better "theatrical spark".

Cover News: You had an impressive performance of eating mustard without physical objects in the play, and you ate real mustard in the rehearsal hall two days ago to feel the "taste stimulation", what kind of experience is this?

Zhang Han: In this scene, the whole performance is a non-physical performance, which requires me and Xuanqi (the wife actor) to perform on stage, the reaction to eating mustard must be very real, and try to make the audience feel "scalp numbness". Whether in Beijing rehearsals or after actually performing in the theater, I often eat wasabi to feel that state and look in the mirror to see my reaction, but my feelings about wasabi are not so strong (laughs).

In order to let the audience have a better experience, I hope that when they watch it, they can remember their state when they eat mustard. Before the premiere, the director team specially arranged for all the actors to eat mustard together, and I went to record their state at that time, which gave me a lot of performance material to draw from.

Listening to the audience can't just listen to applause

Looking forward to bringing more diverse characters

Cover News: It has been more than 10 years since the first TV series became popular, as an actor, what stage of life do you think you are in now? What have you thought about over the years?

Zhang Han: I used to think of work as the whole of life, but now work is only a part of my life. Feeling the relationship between people, people and society, and people and nature in life can make me grow into a better actor.

Cover: Do you pay attention to what the outside world says about your work? What do you think of some skeptical voices?

Zhang Han: In the industry of actors, you must accept the multiple voices of the audience, and you can't just hear "applause". I am grateful for my support, and I must humbly accept criticism and doubts. I will face it head-on and make adjustments at the same time. This is also what I have always thought that the actor industry makes me awe and love, and what an actor gains in his life comes from the tens of millions of audiences constantly having independent and objective inner feelings and evaluations of actors and works.

I will listen to all the real voices, do not demonize it, embrace it, face it, love it, turn these into motivation to improve myself and present more works that are recognized by the audience.

Cover: You used to say that people should do things at any age, and when they reach a certain age, they have to try different character types. How do you consider the choice of subject matter?

Zhang Han: At the moment, I don't have any settings, as long as the script is good, I am willing to try. I hope to bring more diverse characters to the audience and constantly break through the comfort zone of performance.
