Jinyun reporters saw at the starting point in front of the Tianjin Grand Hall that just after 7 o'clock, 30,000 runners were already ready, they lined up in a square formation along Youyi Road from northwest to southeast, 15,000 marathon runners were at the front, followed by 10,000 half-marathon runners, and 5,000 people who participated in the healthy run. At 7:30, with the first starting gun, 15,000 runners of the full marathon, led by the guide car and the leader, officially began the 42-kilometer 195-meter journey.
Then, at 8 o'clock sharp, the second shot was fired, and 10,000 half-marathon runners and 5,000 healthy runners also rushed out of the starting arch and ran towards the finish of the race.
According to the event arrangement, the starting point of the three marathon events is Tianjin Grand Hall, the end of the full marathon is Tianjin Olympic Center, the end of the half marathon is Tianjin Jinmaohui, and the end of the health run is Minyuan Cultural Square.
The race route passes through 7 administrative districts, connecting many urban landmarks such as Fifth Avenue, Minyuan Square, Century Bell, Tianjin Eye, and Tiankai Garden, fully displaying many well-known scenic spots, buildings and scenery on both sides of the Haihe River in Tianjin. The race road is wide and flat, and the modern urban style and historical and cultural endowments are intertwined, which helps runners to create good results on the Tianma Circuit, and truly feel the charm of Tianjin's city "from Yanzhao culture, prosperous because of the flow of rivers and seas, tough and thick as a mountain, open and inclusive as the sea".
The Tianjin Marathon attracted 94,755 people from 29 countries and regions, the oldest runner was over 90 years old, and the youngest healthy runner was only 8 years old. The number of applicants for the marathon event was 23,682, the number of applicants for the half marathon event was 44,843, and the number of applicants for the health run event was 26,230, of which 70% were male runners and 30% were female runners. After the lottery, the final number of participants was 30,000, with a winning rate of 31.7%.
The top five provinces were Tianjin, Beijing, Hebei, Shanxi and Guangdong, with Tianjin applicants far ahead with 53% and non-Tianjin applicants accounting for 47%. In addition, there are 159 foreigners and 70 from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
The history of the Tianjin Marathon dates back to 1981, and in the decades since, the race has been seeking continuous breakthroughs and innovations. After many years, the Tianjin Marathon returned to the city this year, with the theme slogan of "Tianma has me, relish it", sincerely inviting runners from all over the world to come to Tianjin and fully feel the joy of running freely on the most sincere track in Tianjin.
This year's event is hosted by Tianjin Municipal People's Government, certified by the Chinese Athletic Association, and co-organized by Tianjin Sports Bureau, Heping District People's Government, Hexi District People's Government, Nankai District People's Government, Hedong District People's Government, Hebei District People's Government, Hongqiao District People's Government and Dongli District People's Government.
