Tai'an Ancient City Ruins (22) Suicheng Ruins

Suicheng Ruins, located 250 meters south of Suicheng Village, Jieshan Township, Dongping County, longitude 116 ° 33 ′ east, latitude 36 ° 00 ′ north. The site is the capital of the ancient Sui State in the Spring and Autumn Period, and is now a county-level key cultural relics protection unit.

"Suiguo Li Xia, Shang, and The Three Dynasties, the Zhou Dynasty was a vassal of the State of Qi. In the Spring and Autumn Period, suiguo was destroyed by Qi. "Spring and Autumn And The Thirteenth Year of Zhuang Gong" said: "In the summer of June, the Qi people were destroyed. Du Note: "Suiguo is in the northeast of Sheqiu County in Jibei." The Book of Han and Geography records say: "Tunnel Township, the former Tunnel Country." "Spring and Autumn" is known as 'Qi Ren Annihilation Tunnel' also. "The ruins of Suicheng city are terrace-like terrain, about 3 meters above the ground, and they are bordered by an east-west traffic dirt road in the north and a ditch in the south, and the current site range is 300 meters from east to west and 280 meters from north to south. Below the surface layer of 20 cm loess is the cultural layer, the cultural layer is accumulated about 0.6 meters thick, and the soil is brown. From the northern, southern and western sections of the site, you can see some gray pottery pieces, mainly including pot mouths, bean plates, bean handles, pottery pieces along the mane mouth, and gray-black pottery tiles decorated with rope patterns. Judging from the specimens selected from the site, this site should be a city site in the Spring and Autumn period and the Warring States Period.

Regarding the geographical location of the Suicheng ruins, there are still some objections in ancient texts and historians. Its territory was northwest of present-day Ningyang County, Shandong Province, bordering Feicheng. Mr. Kui Zhenhao's "Shandong Ancient Kingdom and Surname" (Shandong People's Publishing House, 2006 edition) and Professor Liu Dunyuan of Shandong University both identified suiguo's former place in the northwest of present-day Ningyang County, Shandong Province, but according to the fieldwork of the Ningyang County Cultural Relics Department, the site of the old city has not yet been found.
