From wartime society to the construction of New China, the Soviet Union's assistance to China played an important supporting role. Through the "First Five-Year Plan" and the help of the Soviet Union, China developed rapidly in a short period of time and completed the centuries-old industrialization path of Western countries. During the period of aid to China, the Soviet Union not only provided a large number of technology, equipment and experts, but also gave huge loans and preferential interest rates and prices. This assistance has enabled China to overcome its weak economic foundation, backward technology and lack of talent, and accelerated the pace of national industrialization. Although Sino-Soviet relations later broke down, we should not forget the initial Soviet aid to China. Regardless of the subsequent relations between the two countries, the Soviet Union's contribution to China's construction cannot be ignored.
Although some people questioned the Soviet Union's intentions in aiding China, believing that the aid was purely forced by the world situation and required China to develop and strengthen the socialist camp, this view cannot be supported by sufficient evidence. International exchanges must be based on the interests of their respective countries, and the Soviet Union regarded China as an important force and provided assistance. After all, in the international situation at that time, confrontation between the two camps was inevitable. At the same time, the claim that the Soviet Union regarded China as a light industrial base lacked evidence to support it, and the construction projects were still dominated by heavy industry, which was more in line with China's own development needs. As for the issue of loans for the purchase of "obsolete" weapons and the reimbursement of minerals, they all arose in a specific historical context and need to be analysed in the context of the prevailing situation.
It is worth mentioning that although Sino-Soviet relations later broke down, relations between the two countries were tense for a while, and even border clashes occurred, we should not forget the initial help of the Soviet Union to China. After all, both China and the Soviet Union were members of the socialist camp, and fraternal help and support were justified. Just as we ourselves have gone through ups and downs and difficulties in the construction of New China, the Soviet Union's assistance to China is also the result of a lot of efforts. History must not forget that the Soviet Union's aid to China is a common memory, and no matter what happens later, we should cherish and remember it.
