In the post-pandemic era, amid economic recovery and geopolitical turmoil, the global innovation landscape is changing. Nevertheless, there are still two waves of innovation and technological progress that offer hope for humanity – a wave of digital-age innovation based on artificial intelligence (AI), supercomputing, and automation, and a wave of deep scientific innovation based on biotechnology and nanotechnology.
Recently, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) released the Global Innovation Index 2023 (GII 2023), and Switzerland, Sweden, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Singapore are the world's most innovative economies in 2023. China ranks 12th and is the only middle-income economy in the top 30 of the GII. Every year, WIPO compiles the Global Innovation Index to examine which countries are coming up with state-of-the-art technologies, research and product designs. #科技集群#
The report uses 80 indicators to track and analyze global innovation trends and innovation performance in 132 economies, providing guidance for policymakers and business leaders to unleash human talent. The report notes that groundbreaking technological advances continue to increase, but venture capital for new products and services has fallen sharply from last year, and the outlook is increasingly uncertain. Tokyo-Yokohama, Japan, and four major clusters in Asia jointly lead the top 100 technology clusters; China has entered the top 100 technology clusters more than the United States; Bangkok, Buenos Aires, Cairo, Kuala Lumpur and Mexico City are the top tech clusters in middle-income economies; Technology intensity of the top 100 clusters: Europe and the United States occupy the top 5, Cambridge in the United Kingdom and San Jose-San Francisco, California, USA lead; Daejeon, South Korea, has the highest concentration of tech clusters in Asia. #中国成为全球最多科技集群的国家#
