There are several mysteries behind the disappearance of Wu Jing's diving instructor: why they are keen to explore the Jiutun skylight

On the evening of October 7, Han Yong, a well-known Chinese cave diving explorer, lost contact in the Jiudun Skylight Scenic Area in Du'an County, Guangxi. Han Yong is China's first recreational scuba, freediving and technical diving three-way instructor, participated in the creation of a domestic scientific research diving system, and is also a technical diving instructor of the famous actor Wu Jing.

He has participated in shipwreck archaeology and remains salvage for many times, and has been responsible for the exploration and salvage of the bones of the Red Army Long March martyrs in Jiuhaijing, Guangxi, and the search and salvage of the remains of the 143-meter victims in the No. 2 cave of Du'an in Guangxi, creating many cave diving depth records at home and abroad.

The Jiuton skylight, where he set a record, is also where he disappeared, and we expect a miracle to return.

There are several mysteries behind the disappearance of Wu Jing's diving instructor: why they are keen to explore the Jiutun skylight

1 Sports Specialist:

Set a record for the depth of 277.4 meters in Asian caves

Just 9 meters away from the world record of 286 meters

Born in 1976 and with 18 years of diving experience, Han Yong is China's first recreational scuba, freediving and technical diving three-way instructor, mountaineering, skydiving, skiing, rock climbing extreme sports expert, has participated in the creation of domestic scientific research diving system, and is also the technical diving instructor of the famous actor Wu Jing.

In 2014, Han founded the Blue Flag Diving Club in Hangzhou. In 2015, Han began to carry out cave diving expeditions in Guangxi and established the Du'an Blue Flag Diving Club in Du'an, Guangxi. In 2017, he began to participate in the creation of the Chinese scientific diving system.

In the field of high-risk adventures in diving, for many years, he has danced on the tip of a knife, swimming at the forefront of diving, exploring and pushing the limits. He has also participated in shipwreck archaeology and salvage for many times, and has been responsible for important projects such as the exploration and salvage of the bones of the Red Army Long March martyrs in Jiuhaijing, Guangxi, and the search and salvage of the remains of the 143-meter victims in the No. 2 cave of the peach blossom jellyfish in Du'an, Guangxi. In order to allow the body to be brought up intact, Han Yong also asked a forensic doctor to learn the operation of piercing, and took the body out after deflating it underwater.

He yearned for the vast sea and mysterious caves, and created many cave depth records at home and abroad.

On April 27 this year, Han Yong set an Asian cave diving depth record of 277.4 meters in 12.5 hours at the Jiudun skylight in Duan, Guangxi, just 9 meters away from the world record of 286 meters. Previously, Han was the creator and holder of the 234-meter depth record for Asian cave diving.

After successfully returning to the ground, Han Yong shared the situation of the cave diving at that time: the diving route was winding and the situation was more complicated. From the surface of the water to 40 meters, it is open water, and the entrance of the cave is 40 meters. The lateral passage of the entrance hole is from 40 meters, through the 20-meter lateral passage, to the straight well mouth of 50 meters; 50~120 meters straight well channel, very narrow; 120~170 meters is a slope, below 170 meters to a straight well. "The depth of this plan is 270~290 meters, and when I reached the planned area, I hesitated for one second, and I only needed one more minute to break the world record. However, I am happy now that I resisted the temptation to stop diving, tying knots, putting arrows, and ascending according to the plan. Come to Japan Fang Chang. Han Yong said.

"This dive tried a lot of new methods, such as setting up a decompression tent at 10 meters in advance, which was very useful. 12 and a half hours of diving, and 5 hours spent in the tent to eat and drink.

The decompression plan has also made many adjustments, using neon gas to accelerate decompression, and after reducing the water, the physical and mental state is significantly better than before. ”

2 Nine tons of skylights:

Underwater Everest, many diving accidents

According to the website of the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Jiudun skylight is located in the upper reaches of the Chengjiang River Basin in Jiuduntun, Jiudun Village, Daxing Township, developed in the carbonate rock strata of the Lower Permian Maokou Formation and Qixia Formation, and is composed of four inclined well-type skylights. The Jiudun Overflow Skylight Group is the place of the world record underwater diving with a depth of 212 meters, known as China's underwater Everest, attracting many people to dive here.

At the end of September this year, the reporter arrived at the Jiudun overflow skylight group, the upstream of the area is a deep pool, where many divers go up and down, and there is a sign next to it to remind you that it is forbidden to enter the water. However, near the skylight group, there are many businesses that rent paddle boards, kayaks, life rings and other equipment, the price is about 30 yuan an hour, and many people go into the water to swim. The water quality in the skylight area of Jiutun is clean, blue-green, the water temperature is very low, and the underwater sea cauliflower and other aquatic plants are very luxuriant, which is easy to entangle the oars or hands and feet.

In recent years, there have been many diving accidents in the Joon skylight. In 2014, a group of three people from Shenzhen Underwater Exploration Club came to Jiudun Skylight for a diving expedition, and one of them was killed.

Han Yong's connection with Jiudun Skylight also stemmed from an accident. In 2015, two Chinese divers dived here, one of whom died. Han Yong was the core and leader of search and rescue at that time. After the accident, some details sparked heated discussions in diving circles.

Han Yong read the accident report provided by the survivors and contacted the French divers who participated in the rescue, and found that there were certain discrepancies between the descriptions of the two.

Because he had many questions about the accident report, he came to the scene of the incident, Jiutun Skylight, hoping to find answers or clues in the process of diving.

Jiutun is actually divided into two holes, north and south. The accident happened in North Cave, what was South Cave like? Australians have dived to a depth of 212 metres, do they describe it correctly?

As a result, Han went from simply wanting to investigate the details of the accident to becoming deeply interested in the cave itself.

The hole is known for its depth, but no one knows exactly how deep it is and what its internal structure is. Han Yong personally dived and found that it was actually a "Y" shape when he reached a depth of 180 meters, indicating that the so-called bottom before may be just the bottom of a slope, not a real bottom. After 200 meters, the difficulty becomes more and more difficult, and every additional minute of stay is a challenge. According to the plan, I want to put the line here and probe the depth. Even a 200-meter line is prepared, even if the hole is vertically deep as 400 meters, it can be detected.

How deep this hole is, Han Zheng cannot give an accurate answer. Han Yong hopes to bring students here together in the future to go deeper.

Mr. Wei, a local diving club, said Mr. Han had been his instructor. Mr. Wei, who has dived in the Jiutun Skylight Scenic Area many times, said: "As far as I know, the waters on the other side of the Jiutun Skylight are relatively calm, with fewer undercurrents, but deep diving has certain risks, and there may be sudden situations such as decompression sickness underwater. ”

3 Han Ji lost contact:

Only when you come back safely is a successful dive

Cave diving is the "limit of extreme sports" and is the most difficult and fatal way to dive. Those who love this adventure sport enjoy the thrill of exploring the unknown and the satisfaction of pushing the limits.

Han said: "Only if you can come back safely in the end is a successful dive. Make exploration worthwhile, not just adventure. ”

On October 9, also in the Jiutun skylight, Han Yong disappeared. A local diving practitioner in Guangxi who knew Han said that he had been diving in Du'an County all year round, and "[his] plan was to prepare for breaking the world record, and no one knew [the waters of the incident] better than him." ”

The reporter verified from the emergency department of Du'an County in Guangxi and the Daxing Town Government that Han Yong, a well-known Chinese cave diving explorer, disappeared in the Jiutong Skylight Scenic Area.

The staff of the Du'an County Emergency Management Bureau in Guangxi responded that they received a report at 11 a.m. on the 8th, the government attached great importance to it, the incident site had been closed, and on October 9, the professional diving team launched a search and rescue.

A government worker in Daxing Town, Du'an County, Guangxi, said that because of an emergency, the skylight is currently closed.

The village cadre of Jiudun Skylight at the place of the incident said that Han Yong went into the water on the evening of the 7th, and the scenic area where the incident occurred is now closed.

The reporter repeatedly called Han Yong's Blue Flag Diving Club, but the phone was not answered.

On the same day, "Blue Flag Diving", with Han Jiu as the head coach, issued an announcement that Han Yong (old cat) disappeared during the daily training of Du'an Jiudun skylight at about 8 pm on October 7. At about 5 p.m., Han's brother said that he had arrived in Nanning and that rescue forces were at the scene.

A diving instructor from the same club as Han told reporters that because the position of (Han Chen) diving may be about 120 meters, it is understood that no one else in China can go down, "so we are looking for underwater robots to search and see where the bottom is." ”

Another diving instructor from the same club as Han Yong said that he only learned of the accident on the 8th, and Han Yong originally planned to hit the world record on the 12th, and this launch may be for preliminary training and preparation. According to its understanding, there are professionals at the scene who are launching into the water for search and rescue.
