The reporter of the main station looks at the world! Hello everyone, I am Yang Yuan, reporter of the Middle East Station of the main station.

The Hadaya Natural Gas Processing Plant Project, the largest natural gas processing project in southern Iraq, is also the first oil and gas project in Iraq to treat associated gas at the same time as oil exploitation, and is undertaken by China Petroleum Engineering Construction Co., Ltd.

When I was at the project site, I could see two giant burning "torches", reflecting the sky red, which is the associated gas generated during the oil extraction process. In the past, due to lack of technology, a large amount of associated gas in Iraq's local oil fields was not only burned in vain and polluted the environment, but also imported a large amount of natural gas from neighboring countries for people's livelihood.

In the construction of the Hafaya project, the builders first had to face high temperatures and extreme heat. In summer, the maximum temperature in southern Iraq often exceeds 50 degrees Celsius, which brings great difficulties and challenges to the construction.

In order to avoid the high temperature, everyone came to the construction site at five o'clock in the morning. And the first process is safety propaganda.

Jiang Feng, General Manager of China Petroleum Engineering Construction Co., Ltd. Middle East Company: We strictly implement the responsibility of grid and small territorial safety management, and all management personnel of the project department participate in the pre-shift meeting of the operation team in the territory every day to find and analyze possible safety risks in the shift operation and formulate preventive measures. At the same time, we also carried out extensive first operational safety risk management to ensure that on-site safety risks were fully controlled.

Not far from the two giant "torches", in the central control room, Sang Yuanlong, manager of the design and technology department of the project department, and his colleagues are nervously inspecting and debugging complex and sophisticated engineering systems.

In the process of debugging the desalination water system, the staff found that a water pump was running abnormally and the shaft vibration exceeded the standard, and if the fault was not eliminated in time, the system would not operate normally. After receiving the report, Sang Yuanlong and the technicians immediately rushed to the scene to analyze the fault, troubleshoot the problem, and after turning it on again, the pump operated normally.

Sang Yuanlong: The employees of China and Iran work closely together on site, and in the process of commissioning, various emergencies are inevitable, so our project department has made various plans in advance.

According to the Iraqi Ministry of Oil, the total oil reserves of Missan Province, where the Hafaya project is located, are close to 30 billion barrels, but due to the war and turbulent years, the oil fields here have not been effectively developed for a long time.

When completed, the project will help reduce sulfur dioxide emissions by nearly 30,000 tons per year in the Hafaya field. At the same time, the commercial natural gas provided to downstream power stations every year can achieve 5 billion kWh of power generation, meet the electricity needs of 4 million local households, and completely solve the problem of electricity shortage in Missan Province.

Jiang Feng: After the Hafaya natural gas processing plant is put into operation, PetroChina will be the first international oil company in Iraq to fully fulfill its oil and gas development contract after the war. The project will also become a representative project of win-win cooperation and common development between China and Iraq under the framework of the "Belt and Road".

Every project is about people's livelihood. At its peak, the Hafaya project provided more than 3,000 local jobs.

Odd Abdullah, 63, a farmer in a village near the Hadaya project, arrived at 8 a.m. in the morning to carry out concrete floor construction and grout cement work.

Through cooperation with the project, Aude's construction team has developed a large construction company with more than 300 employees and hundreds of mechanical equipment. The walls of Aude's office are covered with photos of him and the Hafaya project staff.

Ode Abdullah, CEO of ITM in Misan, Iraq: Our company is gradually expanding in size and its benefits are getting better and better. PetroChina's engineers are very enthusiastic and teach us a lot of work experience, and our relationship is like brothers and friends.

Every holiday, Aude always invites Chinese employees to visit the home, use Iraqi grilled fish and mutton pilaf, and welcome Chinese friends.

Odd Abdullah: Now my living conditions have improved a lot, my life has improved since I started with cooperation with Chinese companies, now I have a car, a house, and life is not what it used to be.

The above is the observation of Yang Yuan, a reporter from the main station, in Iraq.
