Resident Evil: Endless Darkness is a CG animated series invested and distributed by Netflix and produced by TMS Entertainment (Sega's film company). The anime was directed by Eiichiro Hasumi (Assassination Classroom) and co-written by him and Shogo Muto (Kamen Rider Build, Train Man).

The animation was officially broadcast exclusively on the Netflix platform on July 8 after the response was not good, and received many bad reviews from fans of the "Resident Evil" series and some film critics.
Taylor Lyles from IGN gave a 7-point rating: "Although the protagonist's actions are too easy to predict and the screen time of the two protagonists is very unbalanced, Infinite Darkness is a step higher than the previous Resident Evil works on the big screen and small screens. ”
7 points is already a relatively high score. Judging from Rotten Tomatoes data, the overall film critic praise rate is only 50%; and the audience praise rate is only 58%. One viewer who rated 1.5 out of 5 stars said: "I'm really waiting for a good Resident Evil episode, it's so disappointing. The animation is clumsy, the lips and dialogue do not correspond, making the animation look awkward overall, the dialogue is cold, and the writing is terrible... There are a lot of things that make this look like a bad game cutscene. Sometimes the visuals are good, but most of the time the character walks stiffly or does some movement that doesn't look quite right. If you're a fan of these games, you might like it, but if not, don't waste your time... It doesn't fit the hype at all, and I'm watching the long animation of Resident Evil 2: Remake that's more interesting than that. They certainly didn't hear from the fans. ”
An audience member who scored a low score of 2 stars (out of 10 stars) on IMdb shouted "Capcom hurry up and change a batch of people!" ”
Not everyone gave a bad review. One IMdb gave an 8-star audience member and said, "I'm not a fan of the series, I played part 2, and even though I don't like zombies I still love that game, but I love Resident Evil 7 very much, and I've always loved these animated short stories. It's not perfect, and sometimes the screenplay is very unstable, and so is the animation part. But overall, it was really nice. Leon is very strong and the chemistry with Claire is great, even if the two only have a brief 2 minutes of face-to-face contact. The animation isn't particularly scary, but then I won't be so scared. Overall I think all the problems are due to the fact that it is too short. The entire series adds up to less than the length of a regular movie. But all that aside, I'm definitely looking forward to future episodes and will definitely watch them. ”
The overall score of domestic Douban film reviews is only 5.1 points (1644 reviews).
Whether it is a short review or a drama review on Douban, the audience and game fans have expressed their very disappointed feelings.
