In May 1949, the whole province of Jiangxi was liberated, and the people cheered. However, in the heart of Chen Zhengren, political commissar of the Jiangxi Military Region, there was something in his heart that made him difficult to let go. That is the hatred of his mother Zhang Longxiu being brutally killed by the bandit Xiao Jiabi.
Xiao Jiabi was a native overlord of Suichuan County, who was born into a wealthy and notorious family of squires. From an early age, he was influenced by his family and learned to oppress the people, seize property, smuggle opium and other criminal practices. He was educated, but he did not learn a little bit of humanity and conscience.
Xiao Jiabi colluded with the Nationalist army to form a security regiment in Suichuan County and served as its commander. He used this position to brutally persecute and massacre local communists and the masses. According to statistics, he killed more than 2,500 communists and ordinary people. He was widely known as the "Shaw Butcher", and everyone deserved it.
Chen Zhengren, one of the revolutionary pioneers of Suichuan County, was born in a scholarly family, and his father was a late Qing Xiucai. He was bright and studious from an early age, and later enrolled in Ji'an Provincial No. 6 High School, where he was exposed to Marxist ideas and joined the Communist Party of China.
After graduating, Chen Zhengren actively participated in the peasant movement in various places and contributed his strength to party building. In 1927, he participated in the Autumn Harvest Uprising with Chairman Mao and moved with his troops to Jinggangshan.
Chen Zhengren performed brilliantly in the revolutionary struggle and was deeply trusted and praised by leaders such as Chairman Mao and Zhu De. However, in such an honorable career, he also paid a heavy price.
In 1928, Chen Zhengren learned that his mother Zhang Longxiu had been taken away by Xiao Jiabi and skinned alive and died. It was a heavy blow that left him grieving. But he did not give up the revolutionary cause, but turned hatred into strength and continued to struggle for the party and the people.
However, in the war that lasted for more than twenty years, Chen Zhengren never had a chance to take revenge. Xiao Jiabi relied on the terrain and the support of the Nationalist army to escape the blows of our army in Suichuan County. Instead of relenting, he intensified his efforts and continued to slaughter innocent people.
In May 1949, our army liberated the entire territory of Jiangxi, but Xiao Jiabi was still hiding in the deep mountains and old forests of Suichuan County. When Chairman Mao learned of Chen Zhengren's thoughts, he sympathized with his plight, encouraged him to go home to avenge his mother, and pointed out that he could lead a regiment of soldiers and horses to ensure that the murderer was captured alive.
Chen Zhengren was grateful to Chairman Mao for his care and support, and was determined to complete this task. He organized thorough preparations and led the team to his destination, determined to bring Xiao Jiabi to justice.
After arduous search and pursuit, Chen Zhengren finally arrested Xiao Jiabi in November. Xiao Jiabi was escorted to the playground of Suichuan Shuinan Middle School and tried by the people. Tens of thousands of people gathered here to witness this historic moment.
Xiao Jiabi's crimes were unspeakable, and the people were furious against him. He was sentenced to death and executed on the spot. Chen Zhengren personally pulled the trigger to avenge his mother. There was both sadness and relief in his eyes.
Xiao Jiabi's death marked the complete collapse of the reactionary forces in Suichuan County. The masses of the people have since freed themselves from their fear and oppression and ushered in a new life. Chen Zhengren also found an explanation for himself and his mother.
Chen Zhengren was an excellent Communist Party member and revolutionary who made great contributions to the Party and the people. With his actions, he proved the loyalty and perseverance of Communist Party members to the revolutionary cause and family affection. He is a hero who deserves our admiration and learning.
