Although the smoke of gunfire has dissipated, history cannot be forgotten. The Longling Tomb during the Anti-Japanese War was located at the front of the west bank of the Nu River, located in the fortress of the Burma Highway, and became the main battlefield of the Anti-Japanese War in western Yunnan, and a large number of relics of the Anti-Japanese War in the territory were important witnesses of the Western Yunnan War of Resistance, the Chinese War of Resistance and even the World Anti-Fascist War.
The Matsuyama Anti-Japanese War Site is one of the best-preserved World War II battlefield sites. Songshan, located in Lameng Town, Longling County, Baoshan City, Yunnan Province, close to the Nu River Huitong Bridge, "in front of the deep valley, with the back to the big slope", left and right mountains, controlling the Burma Road, guarding the throat of western Yunnan into the east bank of the Nu River, known as "Gibraltar of the East". In May 1944, after more than 100 battles of all sizes, the Chinese Expeditionary Force successfully recaptured this strategic hub on September 7 at the cost of annihilating 1,288 Japanese troops and 7,773 casualties. The all-round victory in the Battle of Songshan swept away the solid positions of the Japanese army entrenched in western Yunnan, opened up the international communication line of the Burma Highway, became a turning point in the Asian anti-fascist battlefield in World War II from defeat to victory, and established indelible merits for the final victory of the world anti-fascist war.
Songshan has a total of 69 battlefield sites, 816 relics, and well-preserved trenches of about 13,200 meters, which was rated as a patriotic education base in Yunnan Province in 1998, approved by the State Council as the sixth batch of national cultural relics protection units in 2006, and rated as a national 4A-level tourist scenic spot in 2019.
Walk into the site of the Songshan Anti-Japanese War, touch the marks of the war, and look up at the witness tree full of scars and tenaciously standing; Step on the stone steps and pass through the sculpture group of the Chinese Expeditionary Force composed of 12 different phalanxes, including the generals' array, the baby soldiers' phalanx, and the female soldiers' phalanx; Stepping onto the boardwalk, you will see trenches criss-crossed and dense as cobwebs... Songshan still retains the grave monument of the fallen soldiers of the 103rd Division of the Eighth Army of the Expeditionary Force, the memorial monument, the cemetery of the fallen soldiers of the 71st Army and the relics of the command post, comfort station, power plant, car repair shop, drinking water reservoir and other ruins of the Japanese army, all of which silently tell the history of blood and fire, all reminding future generations that they must not forget history, can not forget the heroes who sacrificed their lives for the country, this is the best historical witness.
In addition, in the territory of Longling, the ruins of the Burma Road, the ruins of Huitong Bridge, the site of the headquarters of the Japanese army stationed in Longling, the site of the headquarters of the Japanese military and political class stationed in Longling, the exhibition hall of the crimes of the comfort women system of the Japanese army in Dongjiagou, the former site of the Japanese puppet county government, the Japanese army bunker in Dongka, and the Japanese army position on the old Dongpo are well preserved, which is not only a witness of history but also another continuation of the war story.
