China Unicom's shareholding structure is associated with six companies: China Unicom Group Corporation (hereinafter referred to as China Unicom Group), China Unicom Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as China Unicom, China Unicom A-shares), China Unicom Group BVI, China Unicom BVI, China Unicom (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Unicom Red Chip Company, Unicom H shares), China Unicom Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Unicom Operating Company).

October 15, 2008: China Unicom and Netcom merged with China Unicom were officially established, named "China United Network Communications Co., Ltd.", the shareholding structure of New Unicom:
1. China Unicom Group Corporation, referred to as China Unicom Group, is the parent company of China Unicom
June 18, 1994: China United Communications Co., Ltd. was registered and established, obtained an industrial and commercial business license, and registered capital of 1 billion yuan.
July 19, 1994: The inaugural meeting of China Unicom was held in Diaoyutai, affiliated with the State Economic and Trade Commission, enjoying various preferential policies and import and export rights of post and telecommunications enterprises.
2000: The Ministry of Finance converted 1.03 million yuan of the start-up expenses of the "Unicom Group" in 1994, 590 million yuan in network access fees in 1999, and 1 billion yuan in principal funds arranged for the on-lending funds of central treasury bonds of the Unicom Group, all of which were invested by the state, and invested an additional 4.1 billion yuan in cash.
April 21, 2000: China Unicom Group reached a restructuring agreement with China Unicom Operating Company, whereby China Unicom Group transferred 99.67% of the equity of Guoxin Pages to China Unicom Operating Company.
April 24, 2000: China Unicom Operation Company signed equity transfer agreements with China Post and Telecommunications Equipment Corporation and China Communications Construction Corporation, respectively, China Post and Telecommunications Equipment Corporation and China Communications Construction Corporation transferred 0.165% of their equity interests in Guoxin Paging to China Unicom Operating Company.

September 2007: Unicom Group repurchased 29.958% of the shares in the hands of minority shareholders and cancelled them, converted the capital reserve into share capital, expanded the registered capital from 16.5 billion yuan to 39.3 billion yuan, and increased the shareholding ratio of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission from 80.02% to 84.13%.
2007: China Unicom's shareholding structure:
January 6, 2009: China United Communications Co., Ltd. and China Network Communications Group Corporation were reorganized and merged, and the new company was renamed China United Network Communications Group Co., Ltd.
April 28, 2021: Except for the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, all other investors withdrew from Unicom Group Corporation. The business type of the company was changed from other limited liability companies to "limited liability company (wholly state-owned)"

2. China Unicom (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd., referred to as Unicom Red Chip Company and Unicom H shares
FEBRUARY 8, 2000: CHINA UNICOM LIMITED WAS INCORPORATED IN HONG KONG.
June 21, 2000: China Unicom shares were successfully listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
June 22, 2000: China Unicom was successfully listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
2002-2003: China Unicom New Century BVI and China Unicom New World BVI were established as a platform to inject GSM business and network assets from multiple provinces into China Unicom Red Chip Company.
October 15, 2008: China Netcom merged with Unicom Red Chip Corporation and changed its name to China Unicom (Hong Kong) Limited. China Netcom Red Chip Company and China Netcom Group (Hong Kong) Limited completed the merger by way of share exchange by way of arrangement. After the completion of the transaction, the shareholding of China Unicom BVI, a subsidiary of China Unicom Co., Ltd., in China Unicom Red Chip Company decreased from 71.17% before the merger (September 30, 2008) to 40.92%.

3. China Unicom Corporation, referred to as China Unicom Operation Company
April 21, 2000: China Unicom Group selected 12 domestic provincial and municipal branches of mobile communication business, national data communication, long-distance telephone and Guoxin paging business and other excellent assets as the first batch of listed assets, and the wholly-owned China United Network Communications Co., Ltd. was registered and established in Xicheng District, Beijing.
April 21, 2000: China Unicom Group reached a restructuring agreement with China Unicom Operating Company, whereby China Unicom Group transferred 99.67% of the equity of Guoxin Pages to China Unicom Operating Company.
April 24, 2000: China Unicom Operation Company signed equity transfer agreements with China Post and Telecommunications Equipment Corporation and China Communications Construction Corporation, respectively, China Post and Telecommunications Equipment Corporation and China Communications Construction Corporation transferred 0.165% of their equity interests in Guoxin Paging to China Unicom Operating Company.
Subsequently, China Unicom Group transferred 100% of the equity of Unicom operating company to Unicom Red Chip Company (i.e. China Unicom (Hong Kong) Company), which was the main body of funds raised by the listing.

December 31, 2001: China United Communications Co., Ltd. was incorporated in Shanghai, and was established by five companies, including China Unicom Group, China Unicom Xingye, Unicom Import and Export, Unicom Paging and Beijing Unicom Xingye.
October 9, 2002: China Unicom was listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, raising 11.5 billion yuan.
