In recent years, with the rise of China and the improvement of its international status, China has played an increasingly important role in the international community. As one of the world's largest developing countries, China plays an engine of global economic growth and promotes the building of a community with a shared future for mankind by actively participating in various international affairs. On the eve of the upcoming G20 summit, many countries have expressed their appreciation and expectations for China. Sadly, however, China's adoption of five objections before the summit has left India anxious. This article will discuss this topic.

The first opposition took place in 2014, when the Ukrainian crisis was at a critical juncture and Russian troops entered the Crimea region. The international community has generally condemned Russia's actions, but China has unexpectedly sided with Russia.

Citing "non-interference in other countries' internal affairs," China has expressed its opposition to the Ukraine issue and refused to participate in sanctions against Russia. This has unnerved India, which fears that China's uncooperative attitude could undermine international solidarity.

The second objection came in 2016, when the South China Sea tribunal ruled on the dispute between China and the Philippines. The tribunal found that China's "nine-dash line" claim in the South China Sea had no legal effect and demanded that China cease its activities in the region. However, China firmly rejected the ruling, calling it "illegal and invalid." China's position on the South China Sea has been hotly debated, and this opposition has raised India's doubts about China's performance in international affairs.

The third objection came in 2017, when North Korea conducted multiple nuclear and missile tests, causing widespread concern in the international community. The U.N. Security Council has adopted a series of sanctions aimed at forcing North Korea to abandon its nuclear weapons program. However, China voted in the Security Council to block some sanctions, including an oil embargo. China said sanctions were not an effective way to solve the problem and called for a comprehensive and balanced solution. However, the opposition has left India wondering whether China is genuinely supporting the international community's efforts.

The fourth protest came in 2017, when a series of serious human rights violations took place in Myanmar, causing hundreds of thousands of Rohingya Muslims to flee their homes.

The international community adopted a resolution to investigate and resolve the human rights crisis. However, China voted against the resolution at the UN Security Council, calling it "untrue." China's support for Myanmar is linked to its economic and geopolitical interests, a move that has raised concerns about India's role in international affairs.

The fifth opposition occurred in 2019, when Venezuela's political crisis intensified, causing widespread international attention. Western countries have imposed a series of sanctions on the Venezuelan government to push for regime change. However, China again voted against the UN Security Council, saying the move was inconsistent with the purposes and fundamental principles of the UN Charter. China upholds the principles of national sovereignty and non-interference at its core, and advocates resolving issues through dialogue and negotiation.

This time, however, the opposition has again deepened India's concerns about China.

While China has made India anxious with five objections in the past few years, on a positive note, China's approach to international affairs has also changed. Ahead of the upcoming G20 summit, senior Chinese officials said they firmly support multilateralism, free trade and promoting an open world economy. They pointed out that China hopes to play a role in solving major global problems through cooperation with all parties. This could be China's response to India as an attempt to ease tensions sparked by the past five opposition. It is hoped that in the future, China will be able to participate more actively in international affairs and make greater contributions to promoting global cooperation and stability.
