Please don't lose sight of a guardhouse. You look at it,
In such a humble capacity,
Awarded the honor of a declared monument.
Its story is not only inspirational,
In fact, it also contains a metaphor about life and destiny.
The Old Governor's Hilltop Villa Guardhouse, originally one of the two guardhouses of the Old Governor's Hilltop Villa. Built between 1900 and 1902, the Old Governor's Hilltop Villa was modeled after the Scottish mansion and was described by the media at the time as "the most magnificent and spectacular building in the Hilltop District". Due to disrepair, the villa was finally demolished in 1946, leaving only this guardhouse. The guardhouse of the old Governor's Hilltop Villa is designed in a neoclassical architectural style and has a rigorous layout. The façade facing Austin Hill Road is rectangular in shape with rounded corners, which is very beautiful and pleasing to the eye. Three small triangular friezes at the top of the façade of the guardhouse give this small but significant building a classical architectural look. The building was declared a monument in Hong Kong in 1995.
