Peter Thiel, a billionaire venture capitalist and co-founder of PayPal, thinks he may have clues about how to find Bitcoin's pseudonymous creator, Satoshi Nakamoto. Satoshi Nakamoto disappeared two years after mining the genesis block of cryptocurrencies in January 2009.

His theory stems from an early meeting of e-gold founders in February 2000, when about 200 people gathered around a beach in Anguilla to develop a strategy to push for a new monetary system that could challenge central banks. E-gold, a digital gold currency, collapsed in 2007 after its founder was indicted by the U.S. Department of Justice.

"In February 2000, I met them on the beach in Anguilla," Thiel said wednesday at a cryptocurrency conference in Miami, referring to E-Gold's founder. "My theory about Satoshi's identity is that Satoshi is on the beach in Anguilla." He further explains:

"We started a revolution against the central bank on the beaches of Anguilla. We intend to let PayPal interoperate with e-gold and blow up all central banks. ”

E-Gold's failure could have left Satoshi anonymous in establishing its successor. "Bitcoin is the answer to electronic gold, and Satoshi knows you have to be anonymous, you have to have no company," Thiel said.

Not everyone believes that Nakamoto was behind the early electronic cash agreements. Dustin M D. Trammel, one of the first cryptopunks to mine Bitcoin, told reporters that in March of this year, Nakamoto lacked bias when implementing the new technology, which meant they were taking the project with a whole new perspective.

Nakamoto's 2008 white paper spawned a multi-trillion-dollar crypto industry, with tens of thousands of digital assets competing for a piece of the pie. Bitcoin is in the midst of a historic week, breaking through a record high above $67,000 on Wednesday.
