According to historical records, at the end of the 3rd century BC, the Xiongnu leader called "Shan Yu", divided into left and right, becoming one of the most powerful nomadic empires at that time.

However, twenty-four years after the Eastern Han Dynasty, the north and south were divided, with the northern Xiongnu constantly moving west, and the southern Xiongnu annexing the Han.

At the turn of the two Jin Dynasties, the Southern Xiongnu established the State of Han and the State of Former Zhao.
