In the men's basketball World Cup bronze medal match, the U.S. men's basketball team lost 118-127 in overtime to Canada to finish fourth, and Canada finished third.

Team USA Brandon Ingram, Jaylen Jackson and Paul Bankero were absent due to illness, and Walker Kessler entered the starting lineup.

Dillon Brooks scored five straight points in the opening quarter, and Dort hit a long shot to make it 8-0 for Canada to start the game. In the quarter, Dillon, Barrett, Dort made three-point marks, Olynyk misplaced singles Reeves to complete 2+1, Melvin Ehim hit a three-pointer, Canada led as many as 13 points. In the second quarter, Hart made a three-pointer, fast-break layup, Reeves hit a 2+1, Cameron Johnson hit a three-pointer, and the United States went on a 15-2 run at 2 and a half minutes. For more than four minutes, the U.S. team went on a 19-2 run to complete the comeback. Dillon made a three-point stop and Alexander scored five straight points. Bridges equalised again with two mid-range shots. Brunson hit a 2+1 and Kessler made a basket to give the U.S. a 4-point lead at 52-48. Alexander made a quick throw and Dillon hit two three-pointers to give Canada a 58-56 first-half lead. Canada shot 9-of-18 from three-point range, while Dillon scored 21 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field and 5-of-5 three-point shooting.

In the third quarter, Dillon broke through for a layup, then completed a steal and assisted Alexander to score a layup. Dillon then hit his sixth three-point shot to give Canada a seven-point lead at 65-58. Bridges hit a 2+1, Edwards hit a free throw, and the U.S. chased a 2-point difference. Barrett hit a three-pointer and Powell dunked. Brunson , Edwards and Bridges scored back-to-back points as the U.S. chased 73-74. Alexander hit a 2+1, Olynyk and Alexander Walker hit two three-pointers, and Canada led by as many as 11 points. Reeves hit a single shot and scored as the U.S. trailed by nine points at 82-91 in the third quarter. Alexander scored 11 points in the quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Olynyk made a 2+1 basket and Canada led again by 10 points. Bridges made two fouls, Haliburton made a three-point shot in the bottom corner, Reeves broke through for a layup, then Haliburton scored another three points, Edwards singled out Powell for a free shot, the United States went 12-0, and the last 6 minutes or so the United States rallied 96-94.

The U.S. team wrapped up Alexander, and Dort Fast Attack followed up with a basket to equalize. Barrett scored on a layup over Reeves to give Canada a 100-98 lead in the final four minutes. Reeves singled Alexander in response. Barrett missed, Hart scored fast. Barrett responded with a 3-pointer, and Bridges hit a crucial moment to give the U.S. 105-103 lead with 2:15 seconds to go. In the final two minutes, Dillon hit his seventh three-pointer, and Canada once again rebounded by one point. Edwards broke through to hit the board and scored. Dillon's spot break caused a foul, and he hit one of two free throws, and the two teams fought to 107. Haliburton missed a three-point shot and Alexander scored in the final 34.6 seconds. Edwards hit an iron shot and Dillon hit both free throws to give Canada a four-point lead in the final 20.111-107 seconds. Reeves hit an iron, but Bridges grabbed an offensive rebound and caused a foul, Bridges hit the first free throw, and the second free throw was deliberately missed, but he grabbed the offensive rebound and turned around and shot a magical three-pointer! In the final 0.6 seconds, the score became 111 draws, and the game went into extra time.

Alexander scored seven straight points in extra time, and Dillon singled Reeves on a jumper to give Canada a six-point lead at 120-114. The U.S. team caught Alexander, Dillon broke through to make a foul and hit one of two free throws, giving Canada a six-point lead in the final 80 seconds. Team USA made consecutive mistakes. Barrett hit a three-pointer in the final 43.8 seconds to kill the game.

Canada shot 17 of 37 from three-point range. Dillon Brooks had 39 points and five assists on 12-of-18 shooting and 7-of-8 three-point shooting, Alexander had 31 points, six rebounds and 12 assists, Olynyk had 11 points, Barrett had 23 points and Dort had 11 points.
