Former England captain Andrew Flintoff has been photographed for the first time since he was injured in an accident while filming Top Gear last year.

In December, Flintoff, 45, was injured on the test track of a car television show at Dunsfold Park Airport in Surrey.

On Friday, England played a one-day international match against New Zealand in Cardiff.

BBC Series 34 suspended filming pending a health and safety review of the incident.

Flintov did not play with England in an official capacity, but was invited to be with the team.

The former all-rounder has visible scars on his face and tape on his nose, wears a cape and sunglasses and conducts defensive training with England players at Sofia Garden in Cardiff.

He was seen sitting on England's balcony during the New Zealand match, with the visitors then winning by an eight-wicket advantage.

England captain Joss Butler said it was a "great thing" to have Flintoff in the squad.

Butler said: "He's obviously a legend in England and it's great to be with him. ”。

"Some of the lads can use their brains a little bit and they've adapted well. It was great to have them with us. Just for this series. ”

After the accident on December 13, Flintov received medical care at the scene and was subsequently taken to the hospital for further treatment.

Heathrow and Gatwick said they were monitoring porous concrete found at the site after the school was closed due to structural issues with the building.

Ahead of news coverage of its use, reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (Raac) had been discovered at the airport.

Heathrow said it had a way to keep it safe before developing a "permanent solution".

Gatwick said it had not identified any concerns about it.

Since the beginning of September, this type of concrete, which can cause buildings to collapse, has been found in schools and public buildings, causing many schools to close.

The material was discovered last year at Heathrow Terminal 3, which has taken steps to ensure its security.

Since the discovery of Raac concrete at Heathrow, the airport has reviewed its management plan and is satisfied with it.

A Heathrow spokesman said the airport has been "assessing our property and will continue to reduce the risk of finding these materials." "

Gatwick Airport conducts regular inspections of concrete and is not worried about the results.

A spokesman for Gatwick Airport said: "We have a register of locations on the airport campus containing Raac and the comprehensive structural inspection regime is closely monitored on a regular basis. ”

Lord King says the obsession with net zero "fuels inflation"

Lord King warned that as the Bank of England invested a lot of time and effort in achieving net-zero emissions, it undermined its ability to fight inflation.

The former bank governor, who led Threadneedle Street from 2003 to 2013, said it "absolutely doesn't make sense" to add net zero to the bank's growing list of responsibilities, warning that climate change has become "the straw that breaks the camel's back".

Earlier, Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey admitted in May that the bank had made mistakes in its UK inflation forecasts and acknowledged that there were some "very important" lessons to be learned.

Mr Bailey also argued that while he had failed to tackle climate change, he insisted it was not the World Bank's job to help "the world adjust".

Rishi Sunak updated the bank's remit when he was finance minister in 2021, directing policymakers in Threadneedle Street to support growth and achieve a "transition to a net-zero economy".

Speaking to The Telegraph, Lord King said the UK's impact on achieving global net-zero emissions was minimal, with the government placing too much emphasis on the "date" of banning petrol and diesel cars and gas boilers.

The sweltering weather will continue on Saturday, with the unprecedented heat wave in September set to peak.

Thursday was the hottest day so far in 2023, with temperatures in Wysley, Surrey, at 32.6 degrees Celsius (91 degrees Fahrenheit).

The Met Office said temperatures could reach nearly 33 degrees Celsius on Saturday, the sixth consecutive day that temperatures in the UK had exceeded 30 degrees Celsius.

However, for some parts of England and Wales, this may be the last hot day with the possibility of thunderstorms.

The current heatwave is the longest on record.

Met Office spokesman Stephen Dixon said hot weather would persist over the weekend, particularly in south-east England, but thunderstorms were expected in parts of the country.

Central England and Eastern Wales will issue yellow warnings for heavy rain and thunderstorms from 14:00 to 21:00 BST.

Mr Dixon said there could be 30-50 millimetres of rain in some areas, "and there could be hail and lightning." "

Amazon and eBay have stopped selling an ultra-hot tortilla linked to the death of an American teenager.

It was removed from the U.S. because it was widely sold there, but products imported from sellers around the world are still on sale.

Amazon said it would remove the product from its websites in the US, UK, Europe, the Middle East and Africa after contacting the company by BBC Newsbeat.

The online retailer also plans to contact any international buyers who have recently purchased the snack to let them know.

An eBay spokesperson said user safety was a "top priority" and had removed items for sale.

They added: "We are closely monitoring our website and if any other problematic products arise, we will remove them." ”

Snack maker Packy claims the tortillas, packaged in coffin-shaped boxes, contain a mixture of "the hottest chili peppers on the market."

Millions of people watched YouTubers and TikToker try this viral adventure and its extreme reaction.

It is believed that the popularity of this challenge inspired many teenagers to buy products with warning labels and try them for themselves.
