With Prigoren's death and burial, the Wagner mutiny seems to have finally come to an end, and even the "doomsday general" Surovikin, who was previously suspected of being "missing" because of this, finally appeared in public. Someone posted a photo of Surovikin and his wife walking on a recent walk on Russian social platforms, and finally reappeared after 72 days of "disappearance", which immediately caused heated discussions. It was previously reported that he was captured and dismissed because he participated in Wagner's rebellion, but from his public appearances now, it seems that he has been released. According to a number of Russian sources, he was released 3 days after Prigozhin's death.
It may be because it is confirmed that he has nothing to do with the Wagner rebellion, or it may be that Putin does not plan to kill them all, after all, Surovikin has indeed made a lot of contributions to the Russian army, plus Wagner has become a climate, there is no need to hold on to him. But letting him go does not mean that Putin will continue to use him, and he may be "exiled" by Putin. According to Kommersant and other Russian media reports, Surovikin has been removed from the Russian Ministry of Defense, and there is no information about him on the official website, which fully shows that he is no longer able to serve in the Russian Ministry of Defense next.
But fortunately he retained his rank, and there is information that he will continue to accept work arrangements from the Russian Ministry of Defense as an officer, but these are jobs outside Russia, possibly as an adviser to the leadership of the Libyan National Army, or in the CIS as chairman of the Air Defense Coordination Committee, or to Africa. After Prigozhin's death, the Russian Ministry of Defense had to build its own framework in Africa and the Middle East, and sending Surovikin to these places was indeed a good choice, but at the moment he seems to have not accepted any invitations, just want to spend more time with his family.
In short, this "doomsday general" finally saved his life, and he was obviously extremely lucky compared to Prigozhin, and it is still embarrassing that such an excellent general has fallen to this point. Just during the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, he was able to order the evacuation from the right bank of Kherson under pressure and keep a large number of living forces of the Russian army, which is enough to show that he is a good general who cherishes soldiers. Coupled with the Surovikin defense he established, it has become a huge obstacle on the way of the Ukrainian army's counteroffensive, and the tactical ability has been stronger than most of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
If he really got to this point because of his involvement in the Wagner Mutiny, it can only be said that he deserves it, but if even such a general is dissatisfied with the Russian Ministry of Defense, it can only be said that Russia's internal problems are indeed very serious.
