The film takes Qu Qiubai's memories in prison after his arrest as the main story line, and expresses the glorious deeds and revolutionary feelings of the "Three Masters of Changzhou", the three important leaders of the early Communist Party of China, Qu Qiubai, Zhang Tailei and Yun Daiying. The name "Midu" means to find the road of revolution, the road to new China, and the road to firm faith.
The first stop of the roadshow after the release of the film was selected in Shicheng County, Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province, the old revolutionary area once named "Tailei County", and Changting County, Longyan, Fujian Province, the martyrdom place of Qu Qiubai. The former site of the Soviet government of Tailei County is preserved here. Director Ning Jingwu and actors Song Yang and Gu Jiacheng retook Qu Qiubai's path of righteousness and expressed their deep nostalgia for the martyrs. Later, at the scene of the "Midu" viewing event, Ning Jingwu recited the classic line fragments of "Midu" with Song Yang and Gu Jiacheng affectionately.
