DZOFilm officially released the Tango 18-90mm T2.9 and 65-280mm T2.9-4 two S35 cinema zoom lenses, ideal focal length coverage and can be used with servo zoom modules.
In this year's NAB and CineGear, prototypes of these two lenses were reported on this site.
The Tango 18-90mm T2.9 and 65-280mm T2.9-4 are a good pair for S35 users, covering a wide range of focal lengths with just two lenses. Due to the large size and weight of the lens, it is better suited for full-size digital cameras.
The servo zoom module is described in more detail below.
In view of the need for shooting in dim environments, all scale markers are marked with luminous paint. Both lenses have a focus ring travel of 270 degrees.

DZOFilm Tango 65-280mm T2.9-4
The Tango 65-280mm T2.9-4 S35 zoom head features a large focal range. With a dead weight of 3.96 kg, it can be said that it is not light. However, this focal length and aperture are excusable for being a little heavier.
Main specifications
• S35 format, maximum aperture T2.9
• Cinematic lenses with ENG support
• Replaceable PL/EF mounts as standard
• 16 aperture blades for stunning bokeh
• Optional MOVCAM servo zoom module
• 3 lens rings for focus, aperture and zoom
• Luminous scale
• Bilateral focal length scale
I briefly tried this lens at NAB 2023, which is more in line with the usual imaging style of other DZOFilm zoom lenses.
At the 85mm focal length, the Tango 65-280mm T2.9-4 has a minimum focusing distance of 1.1 meters.

The focal length offered by the Tango 18-90mm T2.9 is also practical, almost identical to the popular Fujinon ZK19-90mm T2.9 Cabrio (PL mount).
Main specifications
• S35 format, maximum aperture T2.9
• Cinematic lenses with ENG support
• Replaceable PL/EF mounts as standard
• 16 aperture blades for stunning bokeh
• Optional MOVCAM servo zoom module
• 3 lens rings for focus, aperture and zoom
• Luminous scale
• Bilateral focal length scale
This lens weighs 3.53 kg and has a minimum focusing distance of 0.7 meters.
Optional servo module
DZOFilm debuted a prototype of one of their cinema lens servo zoom modules at NAB 2023, and it seems that DZOFilm has decided to follow in the footsteps of Canon and Fujifilm by developing servo attachments for the S35 cinema lens.
DZOFilm, to say the least, is trying to explore the broadcast market and make its products cater to a more diverse user base.
The motor of this servo zoom module comes from Movcam, a veteran brand in the field, and you may remember the servo external grip that Movcam developed for the Angene EZ zoom lens.
The two Tango lenses will be able to be operated via traditional Fujifilm or Canon zoom controllers.
If you already own the Tango 18-90mm T2.8, you can also buy this module separately and use it.
It must be reminded here that the feel of third-party servo zoom accessories is still far inferior to similar products from Fujifilm and Canon.
Price and time to market
The DZOFilm Tango is now available for pre-order at $10999 for the 65-280mm T2.9-4 and $8599 for the 18-90mm T2.9.
The dual-lens kit costs $17999.
competitor
The $10999 pricing is reasonable for the Tango 65-280mm T2.9-4 that only covers the S35 format, although there are some full-frame competitors on the market that price even lower.
The CHIOPT XTREME 75-250mm T3.2 Compact Zoom Cine (PL mount) costs only $3299. This lens is lighter, has a constant aperture and can be fitted with CHIOPT's 1.7x teleconverter. This site has reviewed this lens, and at this price point, its optical performance is very good.
Another direct competitor is the newly revealed Angean EZ-3 45-163mm T2.3-3 S35/68-250mm T3.5-4.5 FF. However, it costs $19300, almost double the DZOFilm Tango 65-280mm.
Using Angen's back-end optical component interchange technology IRO, the EZ-3 is both a 45-165mm T2.3-3 S35 lens and a 68-250mm T3.5-4.5 full-frame lens. All EZ lenses have their own IRO components for the S35 and full-frame sensors.
The EZ-3 is also available with Angen's MSU-1A single-motor zoom servo module for $1800.
The DZOFilm Tango 18-90mm T2.9 may be a competitor to the Fujinon XK20-120mm T3.5 Cabrio (PL mount) for $12999. You can also buy the version without servo zoom attachment for $9999. This site has also reviewed this lens.
