The annual G20 summit is about to be held. And the United States, unwilling to be lonely, has set its sights on China's neighbor Vietnam. But this time it was clear that Biden was deflated. The so-called hegemonic means of the United States no longer seem to be so effective. Especially under the current Sino-US confrontation, the United States has more than enough heart, but its strength is insufficient.
The G20 summit will begin on September 9. The United States plans to attend the opening ceremony of the G20 on the 9th, and leave for Vietnam on the 10th to meet with Vietnamese head of state Nguyen Phu Trong to discuss ways to deepen bilateral relations between the United States and Vietnam.
In fact, to deepen relations with Vietnam, the United States has been building momentum since July, and it is constantly building momentum, and it has to be said almost every month. It wasn't until September that I finally got to see the real chapter.
In this regard, in the past few months, Biden himself has repeatedly stressed that he claims to receive frequent calls from Nguyen Phu Trong, in which he is very eager to meet him at the G20 summit and raise the relationship between Vietnam and the United States to the same level as Russia and China.
What does this mean? Biden's intention is actually obvious, that is, to create a false impression that it is not the United States looking for Vietnam, but China's neighbors taking the initiative to find the United States, and the side plays up a wave of "China threat". It has to be said that in terms of unrestricted means of public opinion, the United States is still doing it.
But if I'm not mistaken, China and Russia are comprehensive strategic partners in relations with Vietnam. The United States, on the other hand, only established diplomatic relations with Vietnam in 1995 and established comprehensive cooperative relations with Vietnam in 2013. In this way, the appetite of the United States is really not small, and it wants to jump two levels in a row and directly raise the relationship between the United States and Vietnam to the same level as China and Vietnam!
Therefore, Biden called Nguyen Phu Trong very urgent, but how do I feel that it is the United States that is in a hurry? The reason why the United States is so anxious now is also very simple, it is nothing more than one China. Recently, the confrontation between China and the United States has intensified, and Southeast Asia has become an important diplomatic war between China and the United States.
Today, the United States has basically managed a Philippines, but it is still not satisfied, and wants to pull up another Vietnam to make itself more advantageous against China in the South China Sea.
In the past two months, the United States has not spared efforts, while warships and aircraft carriers continue to run to Vietnamese ports, and on the other hand, White House executives frequently visit Vietnam and meet with Vietnamese officials. The United States thought that if the trick was done enough, it would be foolproof, but judging by the results, the United States still miscalculated, and Biden had not yet gone to Vietnam, and he was already deflated.
Recently, it was revealed that Vietnam and the United States put forward an opinion, believing that US-Vietnam relations should not be so anxious, and even becoming a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership across the two levels is not in line with the rules in international diplomacy. Therefore, Vietnam hopes that the word "comprehensive" can be deleted first, and Vietnam and the United States will first reach a "strategic partnership".
In this regard, the United States has not replied for the time being, and in my opinion, it is not good for the United States to reply to this statement. Biden personally came forward and rendered it for two or three months, and as a result, Vietnam suddenly came to this set, didn't he directly hit Biden in the face? If Biden now responds to Vietnam's demands, it will be even more humiliating.
As for the Sino-Vietnamese relations that everyone cares about, I think there is basically no problem. The small calculation of the United States against Vietnam cannot affect the basic situation of Sino-Vietnamese relations. Previously, Vietnam's general secretary Nguyen Phu Trong said a word, and I felt very relieved. Nguyen Phu Trong said Vietnam has always regarded relations with China as a top diplomatic priority.
You know, this kind of one-sentence guarantee is not much in diplomatic situations, which is enough to show Vietnam's sincerity and attitude towards China. All in all, countries in Southeast Asia, such as the Philippines, that have turned to the United States, are still a minority. Looking at the basic plate of the entire Southeast Asia, compared with the United States, China has a great advantage, and Biden's deflated is inevitable.
