A "hanging garden" has sprung up on the riverside of Huangpu, which has become a new check-in point

At night, Shanghai South Bund, gusts of river breeze blew away the sweltering heat of the day, the night lights of Dongjiadu Flower Bridge are lit, many citizens and tourists stop here, rest and cool, and reflect the stretched faces in the dreamy night scene. From August 1st, after more than 4 years of construction, Dongjiadu Flower Bridge was opened to traffic. This Flower Bridge is a pedestrian bridge that connects the Huangpu Riverside at one end and the hinterland of the South Bund at the other, crossing two roads; It's also a suspended pocket park with greenery, flowers on the bridge, plenty of lounge seating and views overlooking the river.

In the riverside space of Huangpu, high-quality pocket parks are "popping" out, strung into a chain, bringing new colors to the riverside industry and living space.

Hanging gardens become new check-in spots

Since its opening for more than a month, Dongjiadu Flower Bridge has become a check-in point along the river, especially after nightfall, the heat fades, and many citizens come here to walk. In the interactive area, from time to time, koi simulated by lights swim around the road; From time to time, it transforms into flowers and blooms at the feet of passers-by; From time to time, it is very interesting to change the ripples of light and move with the footsteps of passers-by. Aunt Xue, who lives nearby, recently brought her little grandson over almost every night, "looking at the flowers and plants on the bridge, and then blowing the river breeze by the river, which is very pleasant." Mr. Zhao, a citizen, and his wife specially came from Yangpu District, "I used to live in Dongjiadu, but I moved to Yangpu after the old changes. I heard that Dong Jiadu has changed a lot, and his wife took advantage of the recent autumn and the weather was slightly cooler, so come to take a look. Sure enough, the scenery is really good! ”

No wonder everyone says it's a great place to see! Dongjiadu Huaqiao is located in the only "prominent point" of the Huangpu Riverside, with a comprehensive view of the river, echoing with Pudong Lujiazui. "We hope that Dongjiadu Huaqiao is not only a simple traffic function, but also a humanized space with both natural elements and practical functions, which is the city's 'landscape balcony' and the city's 'public living room'." The project designer said.

Dongjiadu Huaqiao is a three-dimensional large garden, which connects with the other five public green spaces in the Dongjiadu area, creating a public corridor leading to the green of the Huangpu River, creating a three-dimensional, diversified and ecological public green space system. As a pocket park, the landscape features of Dongjiadu Flower Bridge are outstanding. The overall landscape presents the effect of "moving to different scenery and cascading mountains", with the help of the existing terrain to design a natural viewing area, convenient and comfortable rest seats interspersed with green and flower-filled natural space, allowing people to be in it, overlooking the ultimate river view and garden view of the Huangpu River.

"The plant landscape uses flowers as the theme to create a green landscape with scenery in all seasons." Pan Jianfeng, section chief of the Huangpu District Greening Bureau, introduced that as the footsteps move forward, the interior of the site uses the height difference and curved garden road on the east and west sides to divide the landscape layer by layer. The two main roads in the east-west direction are lined with mixed flower paths and colorful ground covers such as cuckoos and golden-leaved calamus, and the inner side is themed with Japanese early cherry blossoms, and red maple, chicken claw maple and other color-leaved mid-layer plants are dotted to ensure that you can enjoy the scenery in all seasons. At the same time, combined with the low wall of wavy transparent concrete, it meanders outward, forming a dynamic and colorful continuous landscape, extending to the riverside promenade.

Riverside and hinterland, full of surprises

In the South Bund area, whether walking along the riverside or towards the hinterland, there are surprises everywhere.

Along the South Bund, a pocket garden featuring the concept of "time and space" is being built. "Quiet Garden" is located next to Waima Road, which is a site surrounded by Zhongshan South Road, Waima Road, Waicuifeng Lane and Maojiayuan Road, with an area of about 8,000 square meters.

"After the completion of the project, citizens can stroll along the Huangpu Riverside and immerse themselves in it, as if reading a 'time and space garden' that grows out of the city." He Wenyu, designer of the Shanghai Municipal General Institute of Landscape Planning, said.

"Garden of Tranquility", formerly known as "Cuifeng Wood Company", an old warehouse for storing wood. The design team continued and took inspiration from the memory of the street, distilling wood elements and applying them to the scene. The wooden structure of the sun shelter and seats, combined with the layers of colorful greenery, with the help of terrain fluctuations, to create a scene of light and shadow, water shadow, tree shadow, evoking multi-dimensional perception. Immersed in it, citizens can not only feel the changes of the four seasons of nature, but also see the historical evolution of the South Bund over the past century.

The South Bund is expensive, so Huangpu's use of valuable space is not limited to the ground, but also extends to the air and underground. The designer cleverly used the topographic architecture in the garden to connect with the landscape trestle bridge, bringing visitors into the sky trestle bridge. The scenery of Huangpu River gradually comes into view with the height of the pier, the highest point is created to create a viewing platform, forming a commanding point for viewing, and the implantation of the three-story underground parking lot and two ground buildings makes full use of green space resources to meet the functional needs of various surrounding people for leisure, office, parking and other functions of the site.

Along the Dongjiadu Flower Bridge towards the hinterland of the South Bund, the scrap space in the plot is maximized, and six pocket parks are interspersed with it, waiting for citizens and tourists to discover. The guild garden surrounding the merchant marine hall integrates the simple and beautiful style of Chinese gardens; The church garden on the side of Dongjiadu Catholic Church is small and exquisite; Interspersed with office buildings, the herb garden, the health garden, etc., are all integrated with different landscape elements, each with its own merits. These pocket parks are now popular leisure places for surrounding residents and office white-collar workers in the buildings.

Pan Jianfeng told reporters that the Huangpu Riverside passes through the central urban area of Shanghai, the hinterland construction has been relatively mature, and there are very few public spaces that can be developed along the route, Huangpu District insists on high-quality development and high-quality construction, and creates pocket parks and street corner green spaces, skillfully integrating and echoing the riverside landscape, creating the most pleasant riverside environment, and leaving the best resources to the people.
