In the past 60 days, the national Cainiao logistics network has opened up collection, money subsidies, and high-salary recruitment, and "newcomer" Cainiao Express has accelerated and rushed.
According to a person familiar with the matter quoted by Reuters' IFR, Cainiao will submit its listing application on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in the third quarter of this year at the earliest.
Many cities are open for collection, and Cainiao Tmall subsidizes 1.3 billion merchants to send mail
"Our site is open for collection this month." Yang Ming, a courier at a rookie site in Zhejiang, told Times Finance that since the end of last year, his site has successively cut back the carriers of Taobao returns and Tmall international express shipments from other express delivery service providers, and officially opened them to the public in mid-August.
The site of Wang Long, the person in charge of a rookie site in Anhui Province, also opened some collection at the end of last year, mainly for salted fish and Taobao platform returns.
Since August this year, the site has been officially open to other merchants, "The region has equipped the site with a professional BD (business development salesman) to talk about customers." Wang Long revealed that since the Cainiao site is directly operated, when each region and outlet will open for collection and preparation, it is based on the overall arrangement of the region.
According to Times Finance, Cainiao has also opened and collected in some cities in Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Guangdong, Fujian, Beijing, Hubei and other provinces and cities. Data shows that as of August, Cainiao Express has opened collection in 59 cities across the country, of which 29 cities are covered by the whole city.
How to compete for customers in the white-hot express delivery field? Shuai Yong, vice president of Cainiao Group and general manager of the domestic supply chain business unit, once pointed out in an interview with the media that Cainiao Express is a cost-effective self-operated express delivery service, which is benchmarked against the high-quality express services of SF and JD Logistics, but it will have more advantages in price.
This means that Cainiao needs to impress merchants who need high-quality express delivery services with prices better than SF and JD.com.
Dong Ming, a merchant mainly engaged in customized products, told Times Finance that its commodity unit price is higher, and its delivery timeliness and quality requirements are higher, so its previous cooperative couriers were SF Express and Jingdong. "In terms of speed, Zhongtong is actually no worse than the other two, but the end delivery is not door-to-door."
However, in Dong Ming's city, Cainiao has not yet opened for collection. "The current logistics cost is not low, and I definitely hope that rookies will come in, and one more will have more competition."
At the same time, Cainiao is also attracting merchants through large subsidies.
Under the trend of Taobao competing for the return of small and medium-sized merchants, on August 9, Cainiao, which mainly targets merchants, announced on the official Weibo that it will cooperate with Taobao Tmall to provide merchants with shipping subsidies worth a total of 1.3 billion yuan, and settled merchants can save up to 1,000 yuan in shipping costs.
According to the subsidy policy, Cainiao wrapping merchant shipping service will provide Taobao Tmall merchants with benefits such as send first, pay later, interest-free monthly settlement, and freight subsidies of up to 1,000 yuan.
In addition, there are Cainiao Express sites that also carry out promotions for merchants.
In a merchant quotation obtained by Times Finance on a rookie express site in Zhejiang, the site said that it would benchmark SF Express's trademark fast pricing at a universal price; At the same time, there will be promotions, including 500 orders for contract customers in the first month.
That is, customers who originally had an average daily delivery volume of only 10 orders can enjoy the price of customers with an average daily order quantity of more than 500 orders in the first month. Taking a 1KG express shipment to a nearby province or city as an example, the small merchant only delivered 4 yuan per express delivery in the first month, saving 3.2 yuan from the original. It can be compared that under the same weight and delivery distance, the local SF Express offers a minimum price of about 5 yuan for customers with more than 1,000 shipments.
In terms of personal sending, according to Times Finance's inquiry, taking Guangzhou to Beijing as an example, the current Cainiao shipping first weight is 9 yuan (within 1 kg), slightly lower than the price of 13 yuan / kg of SF Standard Express.
The workload of couriers increased, and the station opened a monthly salary of 10,000 yuan to recruit people
Cainiao's self-operated express delivery means that the terminal station needs more manpower to cope with the sudden increase in workload.
"It's a lot more stressful now, and the working hours and workload have doubled compared to before the wrap was sent and returned." Wang Long said that in the past, when the outlet was only responsible for delivery, only 10 people were needed to operate normally, but now that the rookie wrapped business is cut back, many express shipments are time-sensitive, not only the workload of the courier increases, but the site background also needs to adjust orders to coordinate manpower.
On major social platforms, the recruitment demand of Cainiao Express sites around the world has increased significantly. Since the beginning of this year, Wang Long has also increased the recruitment of the site, "Now the total number of people has tripled compared to before." ”
According to the recruitment requirements, Wang Long's region announced that it would "recruit couriers with high salaries", and issued a salary of 8,000-13,000 yuan for couriers, requiring them to be responsible for parcel collection and distribution in the region, piecework commission, and four days off every month.
For developing customers, Wang Long said that a special salesman is responsible. However, Wang Long revealed that it is only open for one month, and there are not many businesses discussed, "After all, it has just started, and new businesses always need an adaptation period." ”
At the site where Yang Ming is located, the courier will temporarily take care of expanding the merchant's customers, or the courier will be responsible for collecting customer clues, and then let the special salesman talk about cooperation. It is reported that there are many curtain and clothing manufacturers distributed near Yang Ming's area, and there is a lot of delivery demand, but most of them cooperate with Yunda, Zhongtong and Shentong.
At present, Yang Ming has achieved little success in developing customers. Yang Ming said that under the promotion policy, the current price of Cainiao pickup is only more expensive than that of the regional access department, but it can be delivered to the door, "Many merchants still care more about the price, who has the lowest price." ”
Dong Ming, a custom goods merchant with a high unit price, believes that under the premise of meeting the timeliness and home delivery, he also hopes that the express price can be lower. However, Dong Ming believes that although Cainiao can provide door-to-door delivery services, it is currently more worried about timeliness, "Cainiao has too few distribution centers, and it is estimated that it will take a little time to run-in." ”
According to public information, at present, SF has more than 120,000 domestic transportation lines and 39 hub-type transit yards; As of 2022, JD Logistics has operated more than 1,500 warehouses, and at the same time, it has handed over part of the business of the transshipment center to Deppon.
In contrast, Cainiao has more than 230 warehouses, 13 first-level distribution centers, and more than 7,500 transportation lines, but only 30% of them are self-operated. Some express delivery industry insiders told Times Finance bluntly that the number of Cainiao's self-operated hubs is indeed not enough, but it has temporarily completed its transit, transportation and other capabilities with the help of Shentong's network.
On August 14, for the large-scale home furnishing business, Taobao Tmall announced that it will cooperate with Cainiao to increase the capacity building of warehouse network system and delivery services, and will invest 1 billion yuan within 3 years to better provide merchants with integrated services of warehouse, distribution and assembly of medium and large goods.
With the improvement of the logistics network, Cainiao and Tmall Supermarket have recently launched the "1212 half-day delivery" model in Hangzhou, Shanghai, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and other cities, which means that orders are placed before 12 noon and delivered before 21 pm; Orders are placed before 24 p.m. and delivered before 12 noon the next day.
Wu Wu, a rookie express courier, was deeply touched by the fact that the working hours and difficulty have improved a lot after the "reform". For example, in the past, the express delivery responsible for delivery every day could be delivered before 12 pm on the same day, but now the transfer station has increased the frequency of departures at noon, and at the same time requires the first batch of express delivery in the morning to complete the delivery and signature before 12 noon, and the second batch of express delivery requires delivery before 9 pm on the same day.
