Grow up in a loving environment

On August 2, 2023, Liu Changcheng, who had undergone lumbar spine surgery, lay on the hospital bed and deeply experienced the hardship and helplessness of a patient with a spinal injury and even a paraplegia. How to innovate ways to help the disabled and better help the disabled is a question that Liu Changcheng constantly thinks about.

In December 1965, Liu Changcheng was born in an ordinary fisherman family in Yantan Village, Boyu Town, Weihai Economic District. His father Liu Yumin was a well-known good man in the village, known as "Good Yumin" and "Liu Weimin". Under the influence of good family style, Liu Changcheng has also grown into a person with a kind heart, he is helpful and happy. When he was in elementary school, Liu Changcheng saw that other classmates were hungry, so he brought the dry food he brought with him to his classmates to eat, but he was hungry. When he was in junior high school, he saw that some classmates did not have an abacus in class, so he gave his own to his classmates to use, and then ran home to use his sister's.

When Liu Changcheng was 12 years old, his sick father died, leaving his mother alone with her four young children. In order to support the family, my mother often went to the beach at night to collect seafood, and when she returned home, her hands were covered in blood. In the most difficult days, it was the villagers who extended a helping hand to help Liu Changcheng's family tide over the difficulties. It was also with the help of the villagers that Liu Changcheng successfully completed his studies. The kindness of the villagers warmed Liu Changcheng, who was determined to be a good person in his life, and also to help those in need and send warmth to them.

Deliver love, from one person to a group of people

In 1992, Liu Changcheng began to use his professional legal knowledge to seek justice for hundreds of employees and embarked on the road of charity. On International Blind Day that year, Liu Changcheng walked into a blind massage shop with a cold business, and several people in the store could not even eat enough, and Liu Changcheng left them the 300 yuan he planned to buy a TV. Since then, Liu Changcheng has become a regular customer of the store, coming to help them in his free time. In 1996, in order to help Li Xiuxia, a migrant girl in Dezhou, get worker's compensation, Liu Changcheng, who was a legal adviser to the trade union at the time, led Li Xiuxia's father to the Shandong Provincial High Court, which lasted two years to help them get a one-time compensation of 214,100 yuan. In November 2008, according to the arrangement of the organization department, Liu Changcheng went to Houjia Town, Wendeng District to serve as the deputy secretary of the party committee, responsible for investment promotion. In addition to doing his job, he raised funds to pave roads and bridges for the masses, went to villages and households, and helped more than 130 poor families in the town solve their problems.

Liu Changcheng's philanthropic road has not been smooth sailing, and along the way, he also has moments when he wants to give up. Liu was often intimidated to defend workers' rights. He really thought about it, but remembered the help he had received and continued to persevere.

In more than ten years of volunteer service practice, Liu Changcheng realized that it is difficult to make a sound alone, the strength of one person is limited, and the strength of the team is infinite. In December 2008, Liu Changcheng initiated the establishment of the Great Wall Love Base Camp. The Great Wall Love Base Camp is a non-public welfare organization registered by the civil affairs department and the only volunteer service team directly under the Publicity Department of the Weihai Municipal Party Committee, up to now, it has built "one center, one home, eight bases", with a total area of nearly 20,000 square meters. Each base has brand public welfare assistance projects such as e-commerce training, oil painting training, and massage training for the blind, with a total of more than 8,500 registered volunteers and more than 20 branded volunteer service projects.

Change your thinking and actively explore the "hematopoietic public welfare" project

Great Wall Love Base Camp, a platform built for the majority of caring people, with the concept of "expressing love with actions and letting love warm the world", calls on everyone to personally participate in public welfare activities to help the disabled to do charity. From Liu Changcheng's mother, wife and daughter to colleagues, friends, friends of friends to caring people, caring enterprises, college teachers and students who have never met, love gathered like a snowball in the Great Wall Love Base Camp.

Liu Changcheng conducted a social survey in which 100 disabled people participated in the questionnaire survey, which showed that 26 people said they "wanted to commit suicide", 36 people "lived one day is one day", and 38 did not want to answer. This result brought him a strong shock, he thought that what the disabled really need may not be "blood transfusion public welfare", he began to change his thinking of helping the disabled, actively explore the "hematopoietic public welfare" project, and innovate public welfare activities.

Guided by the needs of the disabled, Great Wall Love Base Camp has successfully implemented branded public welfare projects such as "E-commerce Dream in Wheelchairs", "Painter's Dream in Wheelchairs", "E-commerce Dream for the Blind" and "Purple Sand Craft in Wheelchairs" to help the disabled find employment, make the assistance for the disabled practical, and let the disabled gain a sense of achievement in co-construction and shared development. In 2018, Liu Changcheng closely followed the times and explored a new model of smart public welfare, he led the Great Wall Love Base Camp to build the first cultural and artistic exchange center for the disabled in Shandong Province in Songshan Street, Huancui District, using the Internet to help precise poverty alleviation, with the help of this platform, the cultural and artistic works of the disabled are sold all over the country. In December 2019, on the basis of years of experience in helping the disabled, Liu Changcheng carefully created the "'Double Self Gate' 8+1" disability assistance project, allowing the disabled to go through 8 steps such as psychological counseling, rehabilitation treatment, self-care training, and entrepreneurship training, to become self-reliant and self-reliant, and finally achieve one goal - "altruism", and after training, help 3 people who also need help and contribute to society.

"How do people know the deep difficulties of people who can't walk without sitting in wheelchairs, how can people who can see the world understand how difficult it is for blind friends to not see the world, now what I have to do is to follow the doctor's advice to heal my injuries, return to the 'battlefield' and lead the volunteers and caring people to broaden new ideas together, so that the project can be continuously upgraded and liberate more disabled people and disabled families." Liu Changcheng is still running on the road of helping the disabled, passing on the love, and the light of volunteering to help the disabled will eventually illuminate the road forward for every disabled person, and all the ups and downs will become a smooth road.
