At present, the deep Taco 1 well has been drilled to a depth of 5,856 meters, and oil workers will spend a year in the desert to complete the remaining half of the operation.
More than 8,000 meters of ultra-deep wells were drilled in the Tarim Oilfield
In recent years, 60% of the world's new oil and gas reserves come from the deep bottom, and the exploration potential is huge, and deep and even ultra-deep oil and gas resources have become an important part of the mainland's energy structure. PetroChina's Tarim Oilfield, where the first 10,000-meter-deep well in the mainland is located, has drilled 104 ultra-deep wells above 8,000 meters, and ultra-deep drilling has strongly supported the increase of oil and gas reserves and production.
The depth of the drilling well of the 1 well in Tarim Oilfield exceeded 9,000 meters a few days ago, and the vertical depth reached 8,661 meters, becoming the 32nd ultra-deep well drilled in Tarim Oilfield this year with a depth of more than 8,000 meters.

Liu Jinlong, Engineer, Tarim Oilfield Exploration Division of PetroChina: It took 10 years to drill the Tarim Oilfield from a completion depth of 4,500 meters to 6,000 meters, and it took 17 years from a completion depth of 7,000 meters to 9,000 meters, while the deep Tacum 1 well will take 373 days from the current depth of 6,000 meters to 10,000 meters, which will also be the world's fastest drilling time record for 10,000 meters deep well.
More than one-third of the known oil and gas resources on the mainland are distributed in 4,500 meters underground, and the Tarim Basin and the Sichuan Basin are the two richest deep oil and gas basins on the mainland, and more than eighty percent of the oil in the Tarim Basin is buried in ultra-deep strata below 6,000 meters.
