Watching the heavier and heavier rain, he methodically organized everyone to carry out various flood prevention emergency preparations. Because he has served as a firefighter and participated in many fire rescue missions, Wang Haijun has rich experience in flood prevention and emergency handling, and the experience of the army has cultivated his soldier's courageous work style and rapid action. Before the flood season came, he had prepared enough reserves of flood control materials in advance, so when he heard the red warning of heavy rain, he still had a good bottom in his heart.
Heavy rainfall for two days slowly caused water to accumulate outside the office building. In order to prevent rainwater from pouring into the office station, he led the staff, forest rangers, and firefighting team members to brave the rain to use sandbags, wooden boards and other flood control materials to build a water barrier wall in front of each passage entrance of the office building. In order to ensure the safety of the station, he sent people to keep an eye on the changes in the water level 24 hours a day, pay attention to the stagnant water all night long, and promptly organize everyone to continuously strengthen the water barrier wall.
Torrential rains and flooding were unexpected
On July 31, roaring flash floods surged down with gangue, knocking down the slope retaining walls of the compound, knocking down power poles and trees, breaking water supply and drainage culverts, tearing and hollowing out asphalt roads, filling low-lying areas with 2-3 meters of gangue sediment, disrupting roads, water, electricity, communications, and networks, and turning the management station into an isolated island. Such a heavy rainstorm and flood, such a tragic damage scene, everyone has never seen or experienced it, and everyone can't help but become anxious.
At this extremely critical moment, Wang Haijun took the lead in rushing into the torrential rain and flood, risking his life to carry sandbags and rushed to the door, "Quick!" Fast! It must be blocked! The comrades of the management station followed closely behind, everyone dragged each other with ropes around their waists to wade through the turbulent torrent, regardless of the danger, carried sandbags, wooden boards, iron baffles, nylon belts and other flood control materials, urgently built a water barrier wall, after more than two hours of hard work, the flood water with black mud was finally blocked outside the office building, the danger was lifted, and everyone was so tired that they collapsed to the ground. Once the first or second floor of the corridor is soaked by the flood, all the stored living materials, facilities and equipment, and canteens will no longer exist.
Set up a rescue commando team to start self-help
After the rain stopped on August 2, Wang Haijun led everyone to carry out rescue and self-rescue as soon as possible, quickly clean up the stagnant water and silt in the first and second floors of the corridor, carry out overall environmental sanitize, and prevent the occurrence of epidemics; Organize people to find and connect temporary water sources to ensure basic living needs; Check and sort out the necessary materials for daily life, reasonably adjust the food supply, and prepare for a protracted war; Use generators for emergency power supply to ensure the hygiene and safety of canteens and food; Under the premise of ensuring safety, send commandos to trek to high terrain to find signals, call satellite phones to transmit disaster information to the field department, report safety to family members and units in a timely manner, let units and superior departments timely understand the first-hand information of the disaster, and provide guarantee for scientific decision-making in organizing rescue and disaster relief; Remind everyone to take pictures and collect images of disaster damage to provide basis and reference for post-disaster recovery and reconstruction.
