Bamboo has a unique temperament in the minds of the literati, is regarded as a symbol of spiritual character, countless literati inkers in the work of praise of bamboo, nothing more than hope that they can also be as tough as bamboo, straight, in the wind and snow without fear of cold. Su Dongpo once had a poem: "It is better to eat no meat than to live without bamboo, no meat makes people thin, and no bamboo makes people vulgar." A "vulgar" word can be said to sum up everything, but also reflects the elegance of bamboo, and the poet's love for bamboo.

Bamboo is also associated with pine and plum, and is called "three friends of the cold year", which represents the most loyal friendship; in addition, it is also called "four gentlemen" with plum, orchid and chrysanthemum, which symbolize noble, humble, tenacious and other beautiful characters. Su Shi's bamboo focuses on the tenacious character of bamboo, as an ordinary herb, in the eyes of The Great Writer, it is a pure character that should appear in life to motivate itself.
There are also many poems about describing bamboo in Tang poems, and the poem "Title Li Ciyun Window Bamboo" written by Bai Juyi in his later years is a typical piece of bamboo. In this poem, Bai Juyi uses a very bland tone, first describing the ordinary use of bamboo, and then suddenly turning at the end, focusing on the tenacious character of bamboo; it should be said that it is similar to Su Shi's bamboo, and it is also a rare masterpiece.
There is no need to cut it into a phoenix pipe, and it does not need to be cut into a fishing rod.
After the flowers and grass withered, they stayed in the snow to see.
Bai Juyi believes that many readers are not strangers, as one of the three famous poets of Tang poetry, his poems are easy to understand and have a large number of readers, and the status in the poetry circle of the Tang Dynasty can be compared to "Li Du". The title of the poem is "Title Li Ciyun Window Bamboo", the meaning is simple and easy to understand, nothing more than the bamboo next to the Window of Li Ciyun, but Bai Juyi wrote very interestingly, and in the work, he focused on praising the tenacious character of bamboo, in order to highlight the difference of bamboo.
On the whole, this poem is similar to the previous poetry style of Bai Juyi, but the first two sentences are really bland, even a little too blunt, and there is not much poetry, if it is not the last two outstanding words, it is likely to become a second-rate work, but the great literary hero is the great literary hero, and at the end it gives the poetry a new life, so that the poem adds interest and highlights the core value of the whole poem.
The first two sentences translated into the vernacular mean that bamboo does not need to be made into an instrument, especially to make a flute to play, when there is a wind, it will naturally make a loud sound, like beautiful music. Bamboo also does not need to be made into a fishing rod, it will naturally have a use. These two sentences are very ordinary, and do not highlight the core value of bamboo, but only play a role in laying the groundwork, in order to elicit the following two sentences, which is also the most brilliant place in Bai Juyi's poem.
"After a thousand flowers and grasses wither, stay in the snow to see." The last two sentences make the whole poem look new, both poetic and describe the core values of bamboo very well; when winter comes, everything in the world begins to wither, and all those beautiful flowers will disappear, but in the snowy snow, you can still faintly see a little emerald green, that is, bamboo that is still growing. People can recognize it at a glance, and it is lush bamboo. It is precisely because bamboo is different in the snow and wind that it has become a spiritual symbol.
Bai Juyi's life was actually very unfortunate, although in the early years, he became a dazzling star in the literary and political circles with his extraordinary talent. However, because of his integrity, he did not hesitate to offend the powerful, and was once relegated to the remote Jiangzhou, where he lived for a long time. It is the loss of life, coupled with the unique temperament in the poet's bones, that makes his works more charming.
Although the first two sentences of this poem "Title Li Ciyun Window Bamboo" are somewhat bland and tasteless to read, the last two sentences are amazing. On the whole, this poem is still good, that is, it writes about the ordinary use of bamboo, and it also writes about the inherent character of bamboo. In fact, Bai Juyi also borrowed bamboo to tell the world that a person must have correct values and a tenacious character, only in this way can he make himself more excellent.
