With the advancement of technology, Qualcomm and MediaTek have added support for ray tracing to their mobile phone processors, making mobile phone ray tracing possible. So how big is the gap between mobile phones and computer hardware in terms of optical tracing performance?
Recently, 3DMark, a well-known benchmarking tool, launched a test project called "Solar Bay" to test the ray tracing performance of devices across platforms.
Officially, Solar Bay is used to test ray tracing graphics performance on Windows PCs and high-end Android devices.
This benchmark measures game-related graphics performance by rendering demanding ray-traced scenes in real time. It enables users to compare the optical tracing performance of different system devices.
According to the test results given by VideoCardz, the NVIDIA RTX 4090 and the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra (Snapdragon 8 Gen2) were compared to the former and the former achieved 24.5 times that of the latter.
