Protect diverse creatures and protect the homes of "elephants". On August 12, the 12th World Elephant Day, Yili Group donated another 1 million yuan to support the protection of endangered Asian elephants and their habitats. Since 2021, the "Yili Homeland Action to Save Endangered Asian Elephants" public welfare project has continued to promote the construction of Asian elephant food sources and help create an ecological environment in which humans and elephants live in harmony.

Pan Gang, chairman and president of Yili Group, once said, "Attention to biodiversity is concern for the future, only by protecting diverse nature can sustainable development be achieved, and only the foundation of the enterprise can be long-lasting." As a key public welfare project of the "Yili Homeland Action", Asian elephant conservation has achieved remarkable results after three years of development, and has become another practical sample on the road of exploration of biodiversity conservation in Yili.

On the same day, Su Yufeng, vice president of Yili Group, was invited to attend the donation ceremony, saying that Yili is a health food enterprise, which not only provides consumers with healthy food and advocates a healthy lifestyle, but also exerts corporate social responsibility and cooperates with all sectors of society to build a "healthy" earth.

Donate another 1 million to continue to help protect Asian elephants

In 2021, Yili and China Green Foundation jointly launched the "Yili Home Action to Save Endangered Asian Elephants" public welfare project, announcing that it will invest at least 5 million yuan in the next five years for the protection of endangered Asian elephants, and protect Asian elephants and their homes through specific measures such as habitat restoration of Asian elephants, rescue of wild elephants, improvement of conservation capacity, community development, and public natural science popularization.

So far, Yili has restored 350 mu of "elephant canteens" in Xishuangbanna National Nature Reserve in Yunnan, providing food resources, minerals and water sources for Asian elephants and other wild animals, and improving habitat suitability. In addition, Yili also built an "elephant protection wall" for the Huangba Hope Primary School in Dadugang Township, Xishuangbanna, protecting elephants and children, and taking multiple measures to promote harmonious coexistence between humans and elephants.

As an umbrella species, elephants protect Asian elephants, their habitats and ecosystems, and in fact protect the natural ecosystems on which other species depend, thereby maximizing the diversity of wildlife in their habitats.

From wetlands and grasslands to rainforests, more species thrive

Protecting Asian elephants is just a microcosm of the Erie Homeland Project. Up to now, Yili's biodiversity conservation work has covered a wide range of wetlands, grasslands, oceans, rainforests and many other fields, and through the protection and restoration of the ecological environment, it has continued to protect the diverse beauty of wild animals and plants.

In 2022, Yili continued to carry out the wetland bird resources monitoring project, and the survey recorded 18 species of birds in 8 orders, 12 families; Joined hands with a number of partners to support the construction of artificial nests of Oriental white storks in nationally important wetlands, and increased the number of Oriental white stork chicks by more than 100. Through the implementation of the pasture planting model combining planting and breeding, Yili improved 55,000 mu of degraded grassland in Arukorqin Banner, Inner Mongolia, increasing the vegetation coverage of the core area from less than 10% to more than 95%. Yili also joined hands with the G20 summit to protect Indonesia's coral reefs and protect the gorgeous and fertile "underwater forest". From wetlands to grasslands, from oceans to rainforests, Yili's footprint of biodiversity conservation has traveled all over the country, adding rich colors to biodiversity in China and the world.

From demonstration to leading the creation of a Chinese sample of biodiversity conservation

As the first Chinese enterprise to sign the United Nations "Business and Biodiversity Commitment", Yili has actively led and promoted biodiversity conservation over the years, and formed a mature model of "disclosure + management + popularization", continuously exporting results and experience.

In 2019, Yili's biodiversity conservation practices were selected into the Progress Report on China's Implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (2019), becoming one of the cases in which the Chinese government demonstrated the effectiveness of sustainable development to the world. In 2022, at the second phase of the 15th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP15), Yili, as the only "COP15 special partner" of the dairy industry of the conference, told the Chinese story of biodiversity conservation to the world, and became the only dairy enterprise selected in the "New Consensus on Harmony between Man and Nature - Enterprise Participation in Biodiversity Case Collection". At the closing ceremony of the high-level ministerial meeting, Yili also shared its achievements and experience in biodiversity conservation with the world from the aspects of biodiversity conservation model and the "Yili Home Action" public welfare project, and continued to speak out for the protection of biodiversity.

Through rich practices, Yili not only let the world see the efforts of Chinese enterprises in biodiversity conservation, but also provided many cases with great reference value for global biodiversity conservation.
