"Uninvited guests" are all out! Shanghai Customs seized pumpkin fruit flies at the edge of the international transit box

Xinmin Evening News (reporter Guo Jianfeng) Recently, the Pudong Airport Customs, which belongs to Shanghai Customs, found insect individuals at the inner edge of the box during a routine inspection of an international transit air box. The customs inspector immediately sent the insect sample for inspection, which was identified by the Shanghai Customs Technical Center and confirmed as a pumpkin fruit fly, a plant quarantine pest in China.

Pumpkin fruit fly, also known as South Asian fruit fly, has a wide range of hosts and strong reproductive ability, and is particularly harmful to the fruits and vegetables of the Cucurbitaceae family. Pudong Airport Customs took the initiative to respond to the rapid growth of international transit business volume at airports and ports, innovated and implemented the "electronic fence + quarantine inspection" work system, adopted quarantine pre-quarantine and information pre-judgment, further improved the quality of port quarantine, and resolutely closed the national biosecurity gate.
