Tarawa, July 15 (Xu Wei, Li Ke, Jiahe, Liu Bo) At 10 a.m. local time on the 15th, the hospital ship "Peace Ark" of the Chinese Navy, which was carrying out the "Harmony Mission-2023" mission, arrived at the port of Starawa in Kiriba under the leadership of mission commanders Zhao Guangqing and Li Xinke, and began a seven-day friendly visit to Kiribati and provided medical services. This is the first visit to Kiribati by the hospital ship Peace Ark, and the first visit by a Chinese naval vessel.

The Republic of Kiribati is located in the central Pacific Ocean, consisting of 33 large and small islands, divided into the three major archipelagos of Gilbert, Phoenix and Lane, with a land area of 811 square kilometers, an area of 3.5 million square kilometers of marine exclusive economic zone, and a population of about 120,000 people. The capital of Kiribati is Tarawa, the port is located in the western part of South Tarawa, and the hospital ship "Peace Ark" docks at the port of Betio Pier.
On the day of the arrival of the Peace Ark hospital ship, Kiribati held a grand welcome ceremony at the pier, attended by Kiribati President Thaneshi Mamau. Officials from the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Communications, the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Police Headquarters, as well as Zhao Jian, Chargé d'Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Kyrgyzstan, and other embassy personnel, Chinese-funded institutions, representatives of overseas Chinese and overseas Chinese greeted them at the pier.
During the visit, the mission commander will meet with President Ki, Minister of Health, Minister of Transportation, Acting Commissioner of Police, etc. Multi-department dignitaries from the base side boarded the ship to visit or experience medical treatment.
During the seven-day medical service, the "Peace Ark" hospital ship will mainly use the hospital ship owner platform to diagnose and treat patients, and at the same time send a number of medical teams to visit the basic central hospital, the elderly association, the community and other points, and invite representatives of the medical staff of the basic central hospital to jointly carry out medical services on the "Peace Ark" hospital owner platform. In the meantime, the second batch of Chinese medical teams working in Kiribati will assist in the medical service work.
In addition, the hospital ship will also organize health service and cultural friendship detachments to go to Nantai University Kiribati and KGV High School to carry out health education and cultural networking activities; Some officers and soldiers will visit the Ki Police Headquarters and police training venues, and play a friendly football match with the Ki Police Station.
