On July 1, the first round-trip direct high-speed train between Chengdu and Hong Kong was launched, and the first train G2963 departed from Chengdu East Railway Station at 08:48 and arrived at Hong Kong West Kowloon Station at 18:55 after more than 10 hours. The launch of the direct high-speed rail service coincides with the 26th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland and the upcoming Chengdu Universiade, which will bring out the great potential of interaction between the two cities in mid-summer July, when a new high-speed corridor between Chengdu and Hong Kong is more closely connected.
On the same day, Sichuan Radio and Television, Chengdu Radio and Television, Chengdu Daily and Chengdu Business Daily launched special programs to witness this historic moment in the form of live reports.
