If you know a little about Saab's fate after leaving GM, you should know that NEVS completely acquired Saab four years ago and later merged into the industrial map of Evergrande Automobile. But during this period, NEVS continued to carry on the mantle of Saab and created a pure electric sedan, the Emily GT.
From scratch, the development of this car took ten months, condensing a group of engineers who did not want to "sit still", although Evergrande stopped the development of related new products, but the engineers of Trollheitan still built at least 6 prototypes. Simon Padian, former design director of Saab, led the project, having previously been responsible for the design of the latest generation Saab 9-5, so we can still see a strong Saab flavor on NEVS products.
According to Peter Dahl, the carmaker's project director, the Emily GT is designed to benchmark the Porsche Panamera and Taycan, and is a family car with "plenty of space", "endless driving pleasure" and "a unique balance between comfort and fun". And in terms of interior design, Emily GT does not forget to follow the trend, using large-area environmentally friendly materials, LCD instrument cluster and central control touch screen, compact gear shift lever and dual-spoke touch flat-bottomed steering wheel. The prototype is perfectly capable of driving, but without airbags and AEB automatic braking.
In terms of technology, the biggest highlight of the Emily GT is the four-hub motor (internal rotor) power system in cooperation with the hub motor leader protean. The comprehensive output is 484 horsepower, and the acceleration is within 5s per 100 kilometers. Thanks to the independent drive of the four wheels, it has the ability to control torque vectoring, and like the Yifang, it can complete the turning operation without the steering system. Since there is no inter-wheel motor to occupy space, it can theoretically accommodate a 175kWh battery pack and have a pure electric range of more than 1000km, but the prototype is still only equipped with the 52kWh battery of the 9-3 electric version.
It is worth mentioning that protean has a close cooperative relationship with Weifu Hi-Tech and Dongfeng Motor in China, and has previously been pocketed by Evergrande's "buy, buy, buy", and then sold to Bedeo, a new British car-making force, and modified traditional fuel trucks for electrification transformation. And the Emily GT you see is part of the six prototypes and their corresponding intellectual property, which is still waiting to be taken over. If you happen to have deep pockets, you may be able to contribute to Saab's survival in the era of electrification.
